Re: Clutch lever/pivot angle
I have the same bracket on my T9 conversion, and despite it's fragile appearance, it does stand the test of time. Well I've done about 25,000 miles on it so far anyway. https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/285570_10150767552250585_2811866_n.jpg?oh=72ce555642b7f8e3fd40be1004899909&...

Reading the ebay listing further, they do offer the kit with two webbers to suit. At $2250 all in. £1500 roughly. Which I dare say isn't THAT expensive in my eyes... Not sure what cam you'd want to run with that setup though.

Re: lowering front.
Kidderminster is certainly close enough for me! I'm in Longbridge. Happy to come and have a look, and to help with anything. Dampers have a bung in the bottom to drain the oil out. Usually best to flush them through too to get all the old oil out before refilling for good. As for the lowering blocks...

Re: lowering front.
Whereabouts are you Rhys? Perhaps someone local could help you do it. Certainly if you're near me I'd happily help (South Birmingham). A little drop of the suspension is fine, but you'll want to get the alignment checked soon afterwards as it can affect the camber and tracking. I have ran my mine ve...

Re: 5 speed box crossmember.
I originally had the 'dog leg' style crossmember, that uses the original captive nuts, but the leverage of having all the weight further back meant it was peeling the captive nuts out of the chassis legs. Ended up changing to the JLH weld in crossmember (weld in brackets, removable crossmember) whic...

Re: Tax ??
I heard an interesting point raised on this on Radio 2 the other day. The fact that with the new rules, tax doesn't follow the car when you sell it (as has been mentioned already) you get a refund for each full month remaining. So if you sell a car mid-month, you lose out on half a months tax. Perso...

Re: Fibreglass Bumpers
You can already buy fibreglass front and rear bumpers for Minors. Not expensive either! There are bound to be 'how to' videos and explainations on youtube or forums. I know the theory, but not the practical process - basically you can make a fibreglass mould from an original panel, then use that fib...

Re: Front tyre size for easier steering
Jack it up off the ground and see if the steering is still heavy. That rules the tyres out and means it's trunnions or rack.
You can't really go narrower than 165, as I expect your slots are 5" or 5.5" wide.

Re: Ford Fiesta 1275 cc Engine
It's not impossible, but if not doing it yourself, it'll be financially ruinous. Your best bet if you want to save money, but still improve the Minor, is sell whatever's left of your Fiesta, spend the money on an MG Midget or Morris Marina/Ital 1275 engine and fit that in your Minor. Those engines j...

Re: Steering Rack Gaiters
Did mine last week. A better way to get the TRE's in the same place, rather than counting the turns, is to not disturb the locknut (by all means crack it 1/4 turn to un-lock, but wind it back the same amount to keep it where it was) and wind the TRE off, then measure the distance from the end of the...

Re: riley one point five
I've had a fair run-in with their Wolseley sibilings, my dad has a couple of them. Just in the final throws of restoring his '63 1500, which has been fitted with a 1622 Cambridge engine, and recently treated to JLH discs. Lots of awful rust traps on these, with the rear doors being part of the wheel...

Re: Oil Cooler
I've got a small oil cooler fitted to my minor. It came on the car, but looks like one off a Midget. I took it off for a bit, as it seemed to over-cool in winter months. But then found a Mo-Cal in-line thermostatic valve so that it recirculates below 80C, by-passing the cooler until it gets hot enou...

Re: Lowering blocks question?
Consider getting a machine-shop to fabricate some 2 inch blocks for you. It'll only need 2 aluminium rectangular billets, turned both ends to form a 'peg' one end and a pocket the other. The u-bolts that come with the lowering block kits are plenty long, so will cope with the extra half inch so long...

Re: ford type 9 gearbox...
I tried the 3.9 and couldn't cope with the reduced acceleration.
Five speed and standard diff means all the normality of standard minor gearing (plus synchro on 1st ;) ) and the benefit of the longer gearing of 5th. Means you don't have to trade acceleration for speed.

Re: ford type 9 gearbox...
Firstly, you need the right type 9 box! If it's from a V6 the first motion shaft is too long. Although usable, it requires a spacer between the box and bell housing to take out the extra length, but that puts the gear stick further back, and means you need a shorter prop shaft than that which is rea...
