Huh... some more research, it's an "all vacuum" unit with no centrifugal advance, no wonder it looks weird!

Looks like I can get a recon one on exchange for about 40 notes.

It's a strange setup... the whole plate with the points on it rotates. It has no weights on it but it does have 2 springs which appear to be equal...

I'll have to take some pics :)

Vacuum advance

On the 62 falcon, the springs are buggered for the vac advance. plunger appears to work perfectly but when I opened it the springs stabilising the point plate were shot. Here's one question... lots of misfires right now.. Would it be better to disconnect vac advance 100% rather than have it advancin...

They're already using 10% here & have done for some years....

Biggest problem is they're running short of food as all the crops are going in petrol tanks!

 Four wheels down is always good..... Ray meant gears though I'm sure. I agree but you wouldn't get the nice bench seats then... It's funny the moggy is light years ahead in some areas of this & behind in others. This car has an alternator as stock & coilover suspension but a steering b...

Latest Project

Been a long time since I posted here.... Not exactly a Moggie but just wanted to show off the latest project. Also been spending some time restoring a 1978 GS1000E "Skunk". :D This one is 1962 with straight 6 & 3 spd column shift box ("3 on the tree"). It has 2 bench seats so...

Forgot to say, they should be lever actuated with an over centre pivot for security, you could probably get it to bounce if you relied on the solenoid to keep it in place.....

No reason you couldn't have a manual lever on the inside to work the bolts as well in case of accident.

If the battery went flat you could (as a last resort) open the boot & take out the seat butterfly bolts & climb in that way...... No real need for central locking on the boot!

I think it's better to vary speeds when breaking in an engine, they shouldn't be held at one engine speed for any length of time.

Also try not to let it labour.

Personally other than that & not ragging it senseless I wouldn't worry about it too much but that's just my personal opinion.

Nice guys, can be a bit slow at time but it's all quality kit in my experience.

Car builder solutions aren't always cheap but their stuff has been good too.

Yes, that's the latest toy. No moggy or Kit Car out here but it's tons easier to get a bike licence & insurance etc is very cheap in comparison too so.... It had one owner from new who bought it in 1981 & now me :) It's in pretty good condition really & seems to be pretty reliable so far...

Why don't you make yourself a "car coffin"..... See here http://www.joeybrown.co.uk/disposal/2.jpg You can just see one for a friends kit car here behind him. His is hidden in the trees, I imagine you'd want it a bit prettier if it was more visible... He pushes it in there & simply pul...
