Hi Sharon,
sorry, I got your name wrong and so sorry, I didn't reply sooner. Should have come back to check, I think the notifications seem to end up in my spam folder.
I'm actually in the process of selling my little Moggy, won't make it through the MOT and too much work to do....

Which oil seal size do I need for wheel bearings, please
Hi, am a bit stuck, am about to order SKF part numbers 7205BEP for the Inner, 7303BEP for the outer front wheel bearings from simply bearings, but I need to know which size oil filter to go for, as they seem to have two which might fit. The car is not at the garage. yet, but wanted to get all the pa...

Re: front wheel bearings
Just been on the phone to simply bearings and it turns out I need to know the size of the oil seal, as there are 2 which would fit.
Help, please.
My Morris is from 1968 in case that makes any difference.
thanks so much.

Re: front wheel bearings
Yes, you need an inner and outer bearing and a seal per front wheel. I would strongly recommend you go with the SKF brand because they have been tried and tested by people on this forum. Don't just get ones that are the right size because they are not likely to be the 40° face adjusted variety, whi...

Re: front wheel bearings
I'm about to replace my front bearings, but am a little confused as to the suggestions for SKF 40° face adjusted bearings; The following have been suggested on this thread, and as far as I can see there is no difference except in price - a BIG difference! 7205BEP - Inner 7303BEP - Outer and 7205BEC...

Re: New brakes etc, funny burning smell & front wheels get hot
Huge thank you, to all of you! You are all such great support! Will contact my old garage tomorrow and explain why I went somewhere else :-? Feel so bad about it, as I've never had any problems with them so far. Ok they are not specialists, but love the car, "this is a real car!" BUT they ...

Anyone live in the Carmarthen - Swansea Area?
Hi there, I live in Llandeilo and was wondering if there were there any members living in the Carmarthen/Swansea area? Not long ago I sort of bumped into a lady who owns several Minors (she does Ralley, too) and lives near or just outside Carmarthen. She said all I needed to do is google her name, b...

Re: front wheel bearings
After speaking to a non to happy man at bull Motif l returned my bearings as faulty and am still awaiting a credit or a refusal to accept them back ! They argue that these premium bearings are the best ! my garage who happened to fit them is willing to argue the fact due to the thickness and qualit...

Re: New brakes etc, funny burning smell & front wheels get hot
I find it very very frustrating, that I have to rely on what he tells me, I just wish I knew/ could do more. Suggest you get a copy of the BMC workshop manual, lots of info in there. You won't believe it, but I do have it and a couple of other books, too. I just don't really talk "mechanic&quo...

Re: New brakes etc, funny burning smell & front wheels get hot
All I can suggest is to follow the advise given here http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=57382&hilit=front+wheel+bearings&start=15#wrap and give SKF a ring. There's a link to their site on one of BMC's posts. Yes, I think I've read this thread, but will go back and re-read good i...

Re: New brakes etc, funny burning smell & front wheels get hot
This morning I had to pump 3 times... I took the front hub caps off, after a spin of about 6miles and the front wheels are warm/hot, but the wheel bearing hub is really hot on both sides. Rather strange that all of a sudden both front wheel bearings need replacing after a kind of dodgy brake refitti...

Re: New brakes etc, funny burning smell & front wheels get hot
Surprising that a couple of hours labour cost you more than a 'banjo' isn't it :-? Guess what it took him 3 1/2 hrs to change the front brakes and cylinders and do wonders to the old "banjo". However, at the time I believed he had done all 4 brakes, because he said, the car is ready, you ...

Re: New brakes etc, funny burning smell & front wheels get hot
Would this have an effect on all 4 brakes? It's only the front wheels smelling and getting hot.bmcecosse wrote:Did they do anything to the master cylinder? They may have adjusted the pushrod in too far - thus not allowing the master to return to base at the end of the stroke - holding the brakes on.
