Avoiding the tram tracks as Morris Minors did back in the fifties and joining in the fun rather than being static all day, so after ten laps what ever grease was in the trunni...

Re: wing removal and grill front
The captive nuts can and often spin round while you are removing the wing bolts while you are under the wing thinking this is undoing easy, a locking wrench on the nut while turning the bolt prevents it from turning in the housing

Re: Last proper Morris?
If isis's Flat four engine had gone into production and the Austin engine replaced it in 52 what would the last Proper Morris be? Or if Jowetts flat four engine produced from 1936 - 1953 instead of being left to motoring history Austin took over. The last Jowett would be 1953, and the last Proper Mo...

Classic C. Buyer
Just picked up this weeks Classic Car Buyer issue 116 . Special feature 25 things you didn't know about the Morris Minor. Superb write up of the British-designed classic car of all time. Loads of Minis and MG's but counted only six Minors in the cars for sale section. Which means only one thing....n...

Re: most common MOT failure reasons?
Change the mot garage to one that is sympathetic with classic vehicles, Ive owned my car for twentyone years its due for mot soon always take it to the same garage. He uses the old style ramps just for classic cars and only does a visual inspection tapping the chassis legs and body with a small rubb...

Re: TRACK ROD ENDS (OR AT LEAST I THINK THATS WHAT THERE CALLED)
Simon, When you have replaced the steering rack rubber gators leave the small jubilee clip / tie-wrap loose before you have it tracked. Otherwise the garage will turn the steering rack bar with the flats until the disired toe in is achieved which then twists the gator splitting it most likely the ca...

Re: concours engine bay pictures
Hi Rob, If you do have a picture and the engine number... would be most interesting. :) Did they just replace the block with one that had the casting when reconditioned aka BMC goldseal. I had a look in the MM service parts manual no oil filter optional kit listed, so how did they fit one if no cast...

Page 30 ofthe "Original Morris Minor" quote "An external oil filter was a late addition to the sidevalve engine, but, as in this case, it would generally be fitted to earlier versions. Indeed, reconditioned units were fitted with this type of filter retrospectively" From engine n...

Re: concours engine bay pictures
Mr Olsons 1950 mm will have a U.S.H.M.2 engine therefore no water pump on the block or external oil filter cartridge. The Smiths auxiliary heater pump draws hot water from the header tank centre pipe on the pump and out to the heater matrix then to the lower hose on the radiator. The hose in the pic...
