OK, so I have checked out the breather and all seems alright. But have taken compression readings, and one cylinder is down to 105, the others are 165,180, and 195. There is no oil in the water, but I am still venting oil out of the dipstick hole, the breather in the rocker cover cap and out every o...

any chance of a pic? I would guess it is a ACR 15,16 or 17, in which case it will be fine for a mog. Also I dont think you can distinguish between them on the outside (can anyone correct me?), it is down to the windings on the inside.

I too run spax adjustables and a front anti roll bar, makes for a good setup, even on a standard car, but agree that in order, front anti roll bar, rear dampers, front dampers is the way to do it. Whilst the Spax are good, they are way over priced, with a pair costing about 160pounds :o . this is wh...

You want wider? I run 185/65s on my marina wheels. Which is on the edge of being to much tyre for suspension really.

What are running at the moment, I appreciate that the sidewall gets stretched, but you wouldnt tell by looking at the car.

Kevin, I guess you are unable to do this now, but if you went for Marina rims, you will easily fit 165s, I have a marina disk kit on marina rims and run 185s all the way around, never had any issues. It does slightly lower the car over all aswel, as they are 13" wheels. However, it does the cha...

leaking oil - blocked breather hol

Hi Guys, my 1275 is now leaking a fair bit of oil from all over the place, e.g. out of the dipstick hole and around the sump. It is almost as if the pressure is too high in the crankcase. Am I right in thinking that there are/is a breather hole to release pressure in the crankcase? Could this be blo...

Tyres - choice for Marina Wheels

Ok, So I have happily run Yokohama A539 185/60/R all round on the car at the moment. But the front tyres are up for renewal and the Yokos are on back order - everywhere! I have been offered some S306 yokos instead, but dont like the look of them, and have heard that they are bit more run of the mill...

guys, there are loads of people out there who have kept cars on 4 axle stands for long periods of time, myself included. But you do have to be sensible. Remember it is you going under the car. Most of the key points have been mentioned, the car needs to be on flat ground, a quality trolley jack and ...

You can always roll the lips on the wheel arches, this is common practice with other cars, gives you a little bit extra.

Thanks Ray, will have to get it changed then rather than wait. As for holding car on clutch, try explaining that to my wife, who finds it too hard to pull the handbrake on. My view is I would rather change the clutch frequently than not have the car!

Does this sound like a worn clutch to you?

Ok, so having fixed the alternator, I now have a grating noise/squeal when fully depressing the clutch. I have adjusted the clutch linkage up so that the bite point is much higher (it was very low). This has made the gearchange smooth, but still if the clutch is depressed to the floor (no longer nec...

Problem is getting worse, so will change the regulator pack (if I can find a replacement) and try that. Otherwise I will have to get a new alternator

red oxide or zinc oxide paint. never liked Hammerite.

Or POR15, if the surface is a bit dodgy - thats magic stuff, but you need to top coat it, as it degrades in sun light!!

I have had a servo on drums and disks, great if your wife drives the car. Some people need the extra assistance on the brakes. However, if you are getting a servo off a scrap car makes sure it wont over power the brakes, or you will be forever locking up.

Front anti-roll bar go for the Minor mania kit, if you are happy to have a weld on one, great mod. If you want a bolt on one - there have been recent posts on those.
