Re: Restoration Project 1952 4 d Saloon in Finland

Main brake sylinder broke down, luckily the car was in the carage when we found that out. Taking into account the fact that the cylinder was more than 60 years old, that wasn't a really big surprise. Sylinder was the last original part in the brake system. Just ordered a new one from ESM with new wa...

Morris 1300 ignition lock assembly / solved

Sorry, this goes a bit off topic, but I'm searching the ignition lock assembly (ignition lock & steering lock) for Morris 1300 (-68). Do you have any tips where I could find one? Those are nowhere to find in Finland (where I'm from). Ebay gives a lot of matches from Australia, but I'm quessing s...

Re: Restoration Project 1952 4 d Saloon in Finland

Hi to all! Time to end the "radio silence" now that we almost have spring in Finland. :) Still some 15 cm of snow in front of garage doors blocking the way, so our car have to wait it's first run. But some good news still, engine and battery survived well over the winter. Engine is running...

Re: Restoration Project 1952 4 d Saloon in Finland

Those seats are wrong for the '52 Minor -- what you want are more "buckety". Those are later Minor seats. But the bucket ones from MMs are very hard to find, so perhaps you're better off keeping the current ones. Yes, you're right, those seats are from -62 Minor. We decided to put t...

Re: Split screen SUE

Yes MarkyB you are probably right, I suppose we have become too indocrinated with modern car syndrome and the quest for perfection. Unfortunately its difficult to get out of it. Quite right, these cars have their own imperfections and gaps, and in my opinion, that gives them their "soul...

Re: Restoration Project 1952 4 d Saloon in Finland

A lot has happened since the last update.. Here's some update: The dashboard is quite ready, only the glovebox is missing and ashtray in the center of dashboard. And as you can see, the seats are also in place. [frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1347104490_15172 [/frame] Here's the backseat:...

Re: Restoration Project 1952 4 d Saloon in Finland

Lights are working now, and almost all the electrical work is done. Only the dipswich is missing, but it should arrive tomorrow. I had to rewire the side flashers, old wires were so worn out that when I connected the flashers, the battery went dead. And same with the interior light. I also cleaned t...

Re: An 1951 MM LHD, stripped, with a minimum on rust

In a few weeks, I can set the nose of my MM on the right place, with help from some hydraulic tools. Because the wings does not fit perfect, it looks like the nose is not only mover to the side, but also 1 cm down, I like to prepare before I am going to pull with a lot of force. Does someone has a ...

Where did you get the carpet from it looks like a moulded one piece The carpet is actually a basic interior carpet from a local hardware store. I think it's intented to be used in stairs etc, so it's easy to bend around corners and it's easy to cut. We used a thicker contact glue in the base and mo...

The floor mat is in place. Quite thick, kind of fiber mat. It should give some soundproofing and it's easy to keep clean. And it looks quite good too. We will put some rubber mat's etc too. Nice job with the bonnet!

That old paint is incredibly hard to get off, but now it looks great! What color you are going to use your car?

Hi! After a couple of days, here's some update again. First of all, front grill and wheel bands got a new paint. Color looks white in the pics, but it's actually cream(ish). Colour looks quite nice. :)[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1343327303_15172 [/frame][frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbim...

Re: An American Moggie ~ My '59 Morris Minor 1000 2-door saloon

There were two primary problems: first, there's a tiny petrol leak from somewhere on the underside of the carburetor. Hmm, have you checked these: Are the carburator mounting bolts tight enough, is the carburator straight relative to the engine? Have you checked the gaskets, are those intact, strai...

Re: 1952 MM Convertible

This may sound crazy, but I want to make sure everything fits before I paint it. At least it will go back together easier. Actually, that sounds a good way to do that.. Painting is much easier when the parts are separated and yes, it will go back together easier, assuming you don't lose any bolts e...
