Re: Halogen bulbs

The dynamo system should cope if it is in good condition along with the battery.
However an upgrade to an alternator would be a wise move if the wipers and blower were required along with the H4 bulbs. πŸ€”

Re: American style.moggy ebay

I'm all in favour of personalising or accessorising your classic with period appropriate bits and bobs but in this case I think the chrome work makes the car look a bit bloated and the wheel arch skirts look like they've been nailed on! I fondly remember fitting the ubiquitous push on wheel trims to...

Re: Stainless exhaust

Recently fitted a stainless steel exhaust from ESM and found it to be quiet and non parping on the over run.
Also it will probably outlast the car! πŸš™πŸ˜

Re: Outer casing motor to wheel box windscreen wipers

Do you mean the motor casing, the gear casing or the limit switch cover?
Which type of motor is it?
There are some inexpensive DR3A motors on Ebay that you could use as a donor unit. πŸ˜πŸ‘

Re: Reconditioned wiper motor

I gave the drain cock a doodle diddley a bijou tweakette with an adjustable spanner and it seems to have done the trick. Now halfway through the delightful process of ripping out the appalling rear seat belts and replacing all the trim pieces that have had holes put through them with what could have...

Re: Reconditioned wiper motor

After the lengthy, slightly bloody motor transplant I armed meself with torch and telescopic magnet to retrieve the hundreds of dropped nuts and washers from under the car and immediately located a small pink puddle! The little blue sod had decided to give me another nice little job sorting out his ...

I wonder what the insurance companies would have to say on the subject, they start rubbing their hands together at the first sniff of a modification! πŸ€”

Woo These "experts" will try telling us anything! I took my radiator to a "radiator specialist" to see if he could remove a dint in the top hose tube. The reply I got was - "I can't do anything with that - it's brass" I rest my case When I asked for a black aerosol for...

Re: Can You Retrofit a Split Screen?

I agree totally. Buy an original splitty but be aware that they can be awkward to drive with the early gearbox and 803cc engine and lesser visibility both front and back. Lots of them, mine included, have been upgraded so you might as well stick with your 68 and enjoy an improved ride. I am very hap...

Re: Reconditioned wiper motor

When I stripped down the original wiper motor the wire that goes to the limit switch from the housing had a break inside the wire's insulation which was blackened on the end when I pulled it out.
That explains the intermittent working of the wipers and easy to fix with a new length of cable. 😁

Re: Reconditioned wiper motor

Hi all
New motor fitted after much cursing and some blood loss.
Wipers now working perfectly so the old motor will be refurbished and sold to offset the cost of the replacement and band aids!
Thanks again for your sound advice.
Time for tea and biccies!

Re: Bag or bottle??

Very easy to fit, just drill a hole in the filler cap for the intake tube from the washer pump. Fill up with screen wash and fit the bracket to the bulkhead. They come in brass or chrome finish. Have a look on Ebay. 😁

My present Minor and the previous one both received a converted chrome Pyrene fire extinguisher in place of the usual bag or bottle. Works fine and always gets positive comments at shows. 😁
