15 minutes of nostalgia

Stumbled across this on BBC Radio i Player . Re: Vehicle of historic interest mot

Being in a similar position I just gave up going round in circles ,it was far less time consuming and hassle in the end just to go and get an MOT at the usual time that it was due recently.

This could have been a modern script included for re running the old sit com 'Yes Minister'

Re: Will Government be seen as classic car vandals ?

Yes they are partly arranged in colour groups and look to be very uniform shapes . (not random enough for scrappage scheme intakes it looks) It still then begs the question ,did the government dept decide to go ahead in the end and destroy all those classic cars that were photographed in a large sep...

Re: Will Government be seen as classic car vandals ?

I don't particularly blame any owner for taking advantage of what at the time seemed a very generous part exchange offer at that time particularly for a vehicle that was not seen to be worth in any other way the scrappage exchange figure and would certainly be seen to otherwise cost far too much cas...

Will Government be seen as classic car vandals ?

What happened to all those dozens of classic cars , including some Minors ,MGs lots of Minis etc etc. that were last heard of sitting on an airfield (somewhere in Bucks I think it was) included in the hundreds of Government Scrappage vehicles ? The government department apparently have always refuse...

Re: Ebay brake shoes "Borg &Beck"

I am afraid the Borg & Beck brand is one I would personally choose not use again as I lost confidence due to when a year or so ago using a 'B&B' clutch then discovered at cost that it was an inferior quality far east 'branded' clutch . Travelled about 5 miles and smoke issuing from the rubbi...

Re: How we used to travel

Thought this may be of interest. British Rail (Eastern Region) publicity photo taken circa 1964 as part of an advertising campaign for the Motorail service. The Moggie convertible is being unloaded from it's two-tier car transporter carriage at Edinburgh Waverley Station. It was loaded onto the tra...

That is the situation I am in and DVLA were useless in their comments regarding this situation . Your solution to have the vehicle MOT’d would appear to initially solve the issue . I had only renewed the cars tax last month anyway and the suggestion has been as a consequence I could not officially ...

Re: Mot

My MOT expires on the 26/4 and the vehicle becomes exempt on the 20/5 . It is taxed and insured through both these dates . Do I need to declare SORN or just let the MOT expire . I would not use it during this gap . Reaon for not refreshing the MOT is its only covered two hundred miles since the las...

That'll be it then, my artwork will simply depict a 1948 'promotional show model' car. (No more over concern on this detail with me now thank goodness !)
Thanks finally again :)

Re: Historically correct details for 1948 Lowlight please ?

I'm not at all sure that original production MMs had the wide coachline. I've only ever seen it on photographs of pre-production/publicity cars which is what some restorers have then copied. My own car certainly didn't have it but that was not particularly early. Maybe we'll never know unless someb...

Re: Historically correct details for 1948 Lowlight please ?

My dad had bought a lovely second hand 1937 Morris 12 in deep maroon - I was six then and he had scraped and saved over years for a car . In reward for polishing it with the revolutionary new Johnsons One Step Wax "The only polish to give a shine too deep to measure" I was permitted to rai...
