Re: dry squeek
Just had a short drive around and there is a reduction in the noise for sure. I think it is the bushes on the lower eye bolt causing the problem so that will be a bit of fun in due course. Looking at the history I see that it was poly bushed back in 2009 so not sure if that is an expected life span....

Re: dry squeek
Thank you one and all for your great advise. I suspect it is the lower eye bolt bushes, have lubricated and will take him out for a test just as soon as the delivery man has been, 8-1 they say but we all know that never happens!
Everything else looks good underneath will post results when I can.

Re: dry squeek
Many thanks for your input, I will take a look tomorrow. Strange there is no noise when I bounce the front of the car as hard as I can, only when driving over something like a road hump.

dry squeek
When driving over humps in the road I have a dry squeak from the near side front. I have checked damper and fluid level, all parts are well greased, bump stops in place and it has had new trunions about a year ago. Cannot seem to find a reason, any ideas welcome.

Re: relay connections
Well yes they did let me look and I hate to say it but it was 1.That I had a sloppy screw fitting the condenser to the points. It now has a new external condenser. 2. The new coil WAS faulty!!!! and has been replaced, She now runs. We had a good look underneath and cleaned off a lot of old underseal...

Re: relay connections
I know you will all think I am a wimp but my local MG garage are taking a look for me and will check through the dodgy wiring that seems to be an issue. At least I have learnt a lot by checking and testing thanks to all for your advise. Instead I am changing the bypass hose on Morris before it goes ...

Re: relay connections
Have done above and do have power to the coil now. Also tested with one or other of the two white and blacks connected to the - terminal on coil in case one was shorting out but made no difference. Re-checked points installation and lt connection and internal earth connection. No joy as yet

Re: relay connections
You are right, I will give another shot I do think it is something stupid. I think I should have done one thing at a time. I had driven the car home in the dark which seemed to drain the battery. I put that on charge and whilst disconnected thought I would change the starter motor as there were soun...

Re: relay connections
Guys I hate to say it but me thinks I am going to admit defeat as still no joy. I hate to give in but think perhaps it is beyond my limited knowledge. Explained it all to my local MG specialist garage this morning and they can't see why there is no life so may give in and let them sort it out. I wil...

Re: relay connections
Should have said too that I have a red connected next to the white on the fuse box so me thinks maybe someone re-wired and did not have the correct colour-- wish I never started now but I do appreciate all your speedy advise and am determined to get to the bottom of this. When she goes she is just g...

Re: relay connections
Thank you for the checking sequence. You are so right there is no spark from the coil, swapped back to old coil with same result. So guess it must be a power feed issue somewhere.

Re: relay connections
Well no go! turns over a treat but just will not fire up. checked all leads and connections again. It must be something really stupid that I am missing. Have to work now or else no cash to spend on MG's or Morris and the like.

Re: relay connections
Good morning all and thank you again for your advise. I have put the battery on charge this morning as it has taken a bit of a pounding with my attempts to start the car. Have checked all connections again and cleaned up as many as I can locate. Am going to have the day off and if time will allow re...

Re: relay connections
Thank you so much for the info, it is very much appreciated. Yes it is a pre engaged starter. I will check it all out tomorrow as those indoors are getting restless if you know what I mean! I had re-connected the relay in the right order so will go back to the first thing I did and check how I have ...

Re: relay connections
I do have a small manual with a wiring diagram which I have been through. I think that a previous owner did some work on it and I think did not use the correct colour wires. It is one of those where the add said lovingly restored but I have found it would have been better left alone as the more I ha...

Re: relay connections
thank you all for your help. I took the connections off to clean the tabs and then stupidly got distracted! The saga is starter motor was worn so replaced it. At same time replaced points, condenser, rotor arm and coil ( I know it's never the coil and have put old one back just in case) new earthing...
