Re: eBay Car Challenge

Well, I have entered, although not a 'minor' project! However I also read the T&C's and put this at the end of my entry, so I guess this is the end of my chances!! "Has anyone at ebay ever restored a car? Does anyone actually think it’s possible to complete a car that is a barn find or sat ...

Re: Cylinder Head Identification help.

Thanks!

Would this fit on a standard 1275 A+ block, or would suitable recesses be required in the bores?

Cylinder Head Identification help.

Hi, I wonder if anyone could tell me about this cylinder head please? It's a 12G940 head. What engine is it for? I wondered what sort of £ value it would have? Great job - I like the tools you've made.

What does the tool to make up the captive nut cages look like?

Re: Welding Gas - Can anyone help? :D

This is a similar situation I will be in when my pub CO2 bottle runs out, and is something I have been looking into. No-one will re-fill a pub bottle that I can find. I haven't found any cheap-cheap options, but these seem like a reasonably priced option. http://www.hobbyweld.co.uk/ They do a variet...

Re: Pickup Chassis

les,

A good drawing,thanks.

I can see how those measurements would help for side to side and front to back mis-alignment, but not up - down misalignment would they?

Re: Pickup Chassis

Hi all, I do think the suspension points are the critical points to be in the right place, so will try and do the diagonal measurment front to rear. I think there is enough variations in the replacement panel not to trust just placing a spirit level across from the original one to the new one - the ...

Pickup Chassis

Hi, I've been doing some surgery on my '69 pickup chassis and had a question about front chassis rail replacement and how to line them up, and with what. This is the area in question: [frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1386429054_15868 [/frame] To line up front to back, I have measured from ...

Re: MG Metro Inlet Manifold

Actually, thats not a bad idea.

A nice brass hose barb threaded in might work.
There's not a huge amount of aluminium around it, so I need to find out what the hole diameter would be to take such a thing.

Cheers
Paul.

Re: MG Metro Inlet Manifold

It would mean I've got to re-do the piping however.

It really works better without it ?
I thought these manifolds were "the ones to have" as it were, and that the heating helped. (in some way !)

MG Metro Inlet Manifold

Hi,

Has anyone ever replaced the two steel water inlet and outlet pipes on an MG metro aluminium inlet manifold ?

They look like they were cast in at time of manufacture, so I guess it's a machine out job.

Cheers
Paul.

Re: Cooling System and Head Gaskets

It would have been, but it's getting on for at least 7 years since I did the engine. If not longer.
So it's probably done quite well on this gasket, but I only do about 1500 miles a year in it.

Re: Cooling System and Head Gaskets

Thanks for the replies. I looked at ESM - they do have a good looking gasket, although it's not quite as I was originally looking for : its made from a black composite material and is not the same material as the older head gasket made with copper. I'll probably get one though. I ran the car to see ...

Hi, I hope you forgive me for the loosly Morris related question here, but there is a link...honestly. My other car is an Austin Healey Sprite fitted with a 1275 A+ Marina/Ital Engine. (the A-series was the tenuous link !!) Today after a blast to work, I noticed a small pool of water under the car. ...

Thanks Iain, I was offered a pair for £150 delivered. I'm not after a set and I don't have these, but if anyone else is after some then 'Intapart' has them. I picked up on it from an ebay ad, (item 190737652904) and asked them about it. From the looks of the picture, there is much available from thi...

Hi,

I wondered what the going rate was for a pair of chrome insert strips that go around a split screen front windscreen ?

Thanks
