Re: Smoke from engine bay, start motor? HELP!
Hi, have you checked the earth strap from the gearbox to the bodywork at the back of the gearbox. The engine/gearbox needs a good earth to the body for the starter motor to get a good earth.

Re: Pedals!!
The spacer under the master cylinder cover may be stuck to the pedal shaft, just had this on the saloon. We had to cut the shaft/spacer to get the pedal out. Not an easy job, but needed to do, as shaft was worn and needed replacing.
Hope this helps and Good Luck

Re: Alternator Wiring
In your conversion instructions are they removing the control box, if so, that could be why they say connect the four wires together. In my instructions below from Bull Motif conversion kit, the control box is left in place. . [frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1474798621_15987 [/frame] . Wi...

The hinges are not the same, the first and second photo at beginning of post shows the seat back hinges and the last but one photo shows the seat base.
Not sure of the sizes and cannot check today, but if required I can check later this week, just let me know.

Re: Lost horn & courtesy light!
It was some time ago when I did my switch change. From memory, the wire to the horn push is a spring arrangement under the push button. I don’t remember how the metal ring/contact is used, but does need to make contact.

Re: Lost horn & courtesy light!
The only place the horn and courtesy light come together is the fuse. The fuse has two purple wires, one to horn and one to courtesy light. Was the courtesy light working before the work on the switch? If yes, recheck that the fuse is ok and that the contacts on fuse holder are clean. The horn push ...

You need to check with Green Flag that they will cover your car, as all their adverts say car needs to be 10 years or younger.

Re: Thing
It looks like a capacitor/condenser, if connect to the coil it could be to suppress interference on a radio. May only be connected next to horn as easy to mount on horn fixing.
If horn has stopped working check fuse with mauve wires as one of these connected to horn the other to interior light.
