Re: Air Filter

Hi there Filters are not expensive and therefore disposable items. Looking at the one shown it looks as though it has been in the car for quite a while. With it being so dirty then the chances are that this is causing your engine to run rich. I would change this, run the car and check colour of spar...

If oil could be pushrod cover gaskets, rocker box gasket or timing chain oil seal. After a run mine will often drip small spot of oil from the timing chain oil seal

Re: Redundant wire from oil filter - green

Hi John - thanks for your reply The redundant wire that I took off the oil filter when I replaced with spin on type is definitely all green and on further investigation goes directly to the back of the alternator. I assumed incorrectly that it directly ran from the filter up to the yellow warning li...

Redundant wire from oil filter - green

I have converted to a spin on oil filter and I want to use both the single redundant green wire from the old oil filter and make use of the yellow warning light that it feeds. Can anyone tell me whether the green wire is a “live” feed OR an “earth” feed to the warning light? Also If I put this wire ...

Smiths ammeter

I have a 0 to 30 smiths ammeter which I would like to fit, but I am told they 0 to 30 was fitted to a dynamo system, not a a car fitted with an alternator - so if I fit this am I liable to do damage to the meter?

Re: Misfiring!

I had a similar problem last year changed everything ignition only for it to return time after time. In the end removed condenser and points and fitted electric ignition and never had problem since. I have put it down to poor quality points and condensers.

Re: Electric Windscreen washer HELP!

Is it worth putting a 12 V bulb on a couple of wires disconnecting the two terminals that feed the pump and putting your two wires of the bulb across the two wires that feed the pump to see if the bulb illuminates when you operate the switch feeding the pump?

Re: Sticking brakes

Did you have this problem before the disc brakes were fitted?. My reason for asking is that there is a top hat seal in the master cylinder that needs to be removed once disc brakes are fitted
