Sealed beam
one of my sealed beams has finally gone and needs replacing. I bought a set of halogen conversions a while ago from the nec show but when I tried to fit them they didn't seem to fit and were loose in the buckets. Now I am forced to changed them, I have the original buckets, are these different for t...

Re: Door trim plugs
I can only add that I have none(and have never had any)in any of my mogs and have never heard them rattling in the door.My 84 golf gti has none,my 54 wolseley has none and they don't rattle either.Just widening the gap in the clip will stop yours rattling. Just because you don't have them doesn't m...

Re: Door trim plugs
I did indeed buy them from ESM and yes they are supposed to be there only most of mine have gone brittle and dropped out over the years. I have all new clips too but the door card rattles like fury driving me mad. I am gonna speak to esm as they seem to be stocking many shoddy parts at the moment.

Door trim plugs
Ok so I purchased some plastic door plugs which go into the door where the door card clips on. They are what stop the retaining clip rattling in the door and as mine were old and brittle and most of them were missing the door card rattled like mad. Just tried to fit the plastic plugs and they are wa...

Re: Wiring interior courtesy light
I have an LED in my interior light you can buy them quite cheaply off ebay. It gives a fantastic light inside which means you can actually use it to find things and of course it doesnt get hot or drain your battery

Re: Rough idle
I have a brand new set of points in a box I could put back in and see if that makes any difference. I was thinking of running a wire from the battery to the coil separate and see if that works so I will try that next. compressions were all good when I checked recently around 160 on all cylinders but...

Re: Rough idle
Doesnt quite drop to zero it just drops a couple of hundred revs then back up again, I checked the coil connections and all seem ok and tight. I have an accuspark ignition unit in so no points or condenser. I have put new champion plugs in which are gapped 25 thou. I even took the dizzy out and remo...

Re: Rough idle
Still having this issue guys, cant seem to solve it at all. The problem now gets really bad when warm so much so I have to pull the fast idle out to keep it going. Feels like its missing a beat, also noticed that the cars judders on the over-run which I guess would indicate a rough idle. surely they...

Re: 3.9 Diff
3.7 would be too tall a ratio for a standard 1098. I want to be able to get up the hills without bring stuck in 3rd. I like the 3.9 ratio it just takes the revs down enough. Mine cruises quite happily at 65 on the motorway.

Re: 3.9 Diff
I have had it apart once and the bearings seem fine no play and feel smooth. It's just been getting progressively noisier. Hope it doesn't need a new CW&P as that could be pricey

Rough idle
Hi all My little moggy is troubling me. She has always been a bit reluctant to idle smoothly but recently it's been trying worse. I can't get her to idle smoothly at anything less than 1000rpm. If you drop the revs she gets rough and the tachometer drops sharply every so often like she's missing. I ...

Window winder spring
Hi guys, Being trying to work out what the rattle was coming from my driver door for ages. Today I found out it was the window winder mechanism spring that has sheared off and so I need to replace it. I can only find full mechanisms and I would rather not have to remove and replace the whole thing a...
