The kit was supplied with the option of mechanical or hydraulic conversion.
Mechanical for the Minor.
Hydraulic for the MG Midget.
The photo I have of the conversion kit appears to contain a 1275cc MG Midget slave cylinder or similar.

Re: Vacuum Advance.
I would recommend using one of the modified unions pictured below. It fits into the pipe from the block to the oil filter. Fitting and accessing the oil switch is easy. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166642222294?itmmeta=01HW2ZNXWVV5JVTMCVVA1WP8NT&hash=item26cca684d6:g:CKkAAOSwaYJl7zgI&itmprp=en...

Re: Poly bushes
An observation re the ESM spring/bush kit:- The commercial variants of the Minor did not have rubber or poly spring pads. The pads were solid steel. The steel pads are no longer available so the obvious thing is to fit poly pads. The nearest you can get to the steel pads are alloy pads from Peter Ma...

Re: Sidevalve engine temperature gauge
You could always fit a temp gauge take off into the top hose using a kit of the type in the photo below. Period temp take off.jpg Or even the types listed below https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226051860527?itmmeta=01HVY8FKQ6ZQPKY4TA22JQYZDK&hash=item34a1bda82f:g:1~0AAOSwmEBl9~m8&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJ...

Re: Stronger Halfshafts
It is strong as I like to make sure that it does not fail. There is a lot of loading on that bracket when the clutch is dropped at about 3000rpm. The front brackets which fit either side of the front spring mount are fully removable and can be reverted to original spec as the plates are only bolted ...

Re: Stronger Halfshafts
The length of the anti tramp bars is 22" between rose joint centres. The SPAX damper lower mount is not suitable for mounting a anti-tramp bar to as it is not a sufficiently tight fit to the axle. I have a spare set of Minor SPAX adjustable gas dampers with rear mounts so am aware of the mount ...

Re: Tappet chest cover - confusion
You can call the valve what you like but the valve was fitted for the control of pollution caused by piston blow past escaping from the crankcase.
It has been called a pollution control valve for many years without dissent.
The valve is designed to creates a negative pressure in the crankcase.

Re: Stronger Halfshafts
The original anti-tramp bars were square tube with 3/8" UNF inserts. The new anti-tramp bars are solid steel with right and Left hand threads. They are not much heavier than the original bars. The bars were purchased ready made from McGill Motorsport. The brackets either end were designed and m...

Re: Tappet chest cover - confusion
You have the later cam follower (tappet) access covers which use a neoprene/rubber gasket. The canister is a oil separator and has a gauze element inside to separate the oil from the crankcase fumes. The disc on top of the manifold is a Pollution Control Valve (PCV) which allows the fumes from the e...

Re: Stronger Halfshafts
I do not have a drawing. Just worked out what was needed and made the parts. The anti-tramp bars are very effective and cope well with 135 plus bhp and 7" wide sticky slicks. They have been fitted to my Minor for many years. Plus the springs are 7 leaf with the bottom leaf removed and they have...

Re: Stronger Halfshafts
The anti-tramp bars fitted to my Minor and made by myself have been on there for many years and are very similar to the ESM kit but predates the ESM kit by many years. The bars are of a similar length to the ESM bars and do not need to be longer. They are attached under the spring at the rear and be...

Re: Stronger Halfshafts
The problem with fitting stronger half-shafts is - you move the failure point somewhere else. Unless you are in absolute need of stronger half-shafts the standard half-shafts are more than adequate. Having stronger half-shafts on the shelf will not solve the problem of possible half-shaft failure - ...

If fitted correctly the cork gasket is just as good as the silicon rubber gasket.
The silicon rubber gasket is overkill IMHO.

Re: Poly bushes
The thickness of the flange on a poly bush is not dependent upon the colour or supplier. I have several poly bushes of different colours and from different branded suppliers and the thickness of the flanges varies. There is no dedicated poly bush for the chassis and no dedicated poly bush for the sp...

Re: Hub identification disc brakes
When fitting the taper bearings to the Minor stub it can requires a spacer washer (or even two spacer washers) between the bearing and nut. The Marina hub nut does not have any castellation's, it is a plain nut and is secured by the castellated locking ring. I suspect that the hub nut used and shown...
