Differential to axle gasket

Hi guys,
I’m ready to put my differential unit back into the axle. I have a new paper gasket. Do you recommend gasket sealant or not?
Also what’s the torque setting for the diff to axle case nuts?
Thanks

Thank you. I have managed to repair the thread carefully with a fine file so all is good now.

Rear axle

Hi all, I have been replacing the bearings and seals on my rear axle. Unfortunately I have managed to damage the thread on the right hand side. The bearing retaining nut is part number 2A 7103. The axle is part number ATA 7618. Could anyone tell me the correct diameter and thread type so I can try t...

Series 2 brakes

Hi all, I hope you can help me with a brake problem. When I restored my 56 series 2, I changed all the brake lines and cylinders but decided to use the original drums and pads which were good. Over the last year or so I have struggled to get the brakes adjusted properly and decided to change the pad...

Clutch

Hi guys, I have a 1956 Series 2 with the original drivetrain. Last weekend I was going to a Morris Minor rally and my clutch pedal went flat to the floor. Having crawled underneath I found the rod-- pedal to relay ( part number ACA5002) had snapped at one end. I called around last week and found the...

Re: Leicester Branch Rally - Sunday 20/8/17

Hi,
I'm looking forward to the Quorn rally tomorrow. Do you know if it's ok to bring someone else along who has a vintage car which is NOT a Minor?
Thanks

Thanks for the info guys. If the pawl is incorrect, how do I know what I need? Is it easy to change?
Thanks

Series 2 mileometer

Hi all, When I restored my 56 Series 2, I bought an NOS speedo (the correct one) from club spares. Whilst the speedo works fine, the mileometer appears to record about twice the number of miles actually travelled. Any ideas how to correct this? I am running the original 803, gearbox and rear end. Th...

Re: Greasing problems

Hi chaps, well today I thought I'd remove one of the top trunnions to inspect the lack of greasing situation. However, I cannot get the pivot pin out. I know the end that connects to the damper arm is tapered but I cannot work it loose and it's only been in place about 1 year. Any ideas? I have the ...

Re: Greasing problems

Thanks Phil, I will have to remove it I think as you suggest. The seals are new. Very frustrating, I was thinking maybe there is an internal hole that must be aligned to the nipple hole but apparently not.

Re: Half Shaft Oil leak

Thanks for the replies. The axle has been rebuilt and all new bearings and seals have been fitted. I will inspect further and let you know. I don't think the later oil seal ring will fit my axle. I think that was only on later cars. It does seem strange that a paper gasket is all that was used and a...

Half Shaft Oil leak

Hi guys, I have a late (56) series 2 which has been completely rebuilt. I noticed this spring that I had an oil leak from the nearside rear halfshaft. I removed the half shaft, cleaned each part and the paper gasket (which was new) and applied a smear of gasket cement to either side of the gasket to...

Re: Greasing problems

Thanks for the ideas guys. Jacking up the front suspension really helped. I can now grease the track rode end and the bottom trunnion. However I cannot get grease in the top trunnion. The nipple is clear. Could it be something is blocked or an internal grease hole is not lined up properly? Thanks ag...

Greasing problems

Hi all, I have a 56 Series 2 which has been completely rebuild. I'm attempting to grease all the required areas via the provided nipples, I'm finding it pretty impossible to get grease past the nipple into the required area, especially the front suspension/steering. I'm using moly based grease throu...

Re: Engine missfire

Thanks for the suggestions. I have indeed installed a new coil (screw in terminal type) from ESM. May try another. Don't believe it is a fuel problem.
Here's hoping I make it to Catton Park tomorrow. Look me up please if you're there. My car is a black 2 door. KBW 653.
Thanks

Engine missfire

Hey guys, I hope you can help. I have just finished a full restoration of a 56 series 2 with the original rebuilt 803. The carb, dissy, generator and all other auxiliaries have been rebuilt or replaced. The engine runs like a top but misfires when hot, under load. I have replaced all the HT leads an...

Smiths Heater

Hi guys, I am re-installing the Smiths round heater in my 56 Series 2. The new wiring harness does not have the wires built in to connect the heater to the car. I want to get the correct size of wiring. Can anyone please tell me what size of cable to get and where to connect to. I'm guessing one to ...
