Re: Martha the Moggy Minor, the quick refurb project!

This car was last used in 1989 apparently so the oils been sitting there for quite some time-there was liquid oil on top of the sludge but not much, probably about 2 pints. I removed the bearing caps and there was no damage or scoring as I thought there would be with running oil like this-it's not th...

Re: Martha the Moggy Minor, the quick refurb project!

When the engine was out (two of us lifted it out easily with the flywheel removed) I took the opportunity to strip and clean it,the £6 spent on gloss green paint was probably the best small money for big improvement on the engine! With the sump removed I was surprised the engine actually ran so well...

Re: Martha the Moggy Minor, the quick refurb project!

A few more from summer last year! Really pleased with the dashboard paint job-it's nice to have all the bits coming out of a box and going back in their rightful places, there's only a few cardboard boxes with bits in now[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1476527544_17863 [/frame][frame] http...

Re: Martha the Moggy Minor, the quick refurb project!

Hi again all, after a long absence from posting on here, partly due to a problem logging in,sorted (thanks Cam) and a few other projects needing my immediate attention,Martha's been on the back burner with only bits and pieces getting done as time allowed,I really wanted this Moggy on the road this su...

Moggy at CarFest North

We took the 'other' car to Chris Evans CarFest North at Oulton Park Circuit at the weekend, an extravaganza of amazing cars all for the Children in Need event. In the pits area amongst Ferraris,Astons,Mustangs,Lambos and such was this great little Minor in full race trim, up on stands getting its st...

Martha's getting paint!

With the warm weather here, after getting back from my hols in I got stuck in to a bit of interior painting and renovation - I had skillfully removed the headlining intact (b@stard of a job!) and had a great time with primer and paint. I haven't polished or compounded the paint yet, but it is lookin...

Re: Info on KCM713F

Now that's interesting - the previous owner only had it for a relatively short time (3-6 months I think) before I purchased her, he did say it was laid up somewhere local to St.Helens but didn't know where, sometime then it was resprayed quite rushed/poorly in what could be 2pack paint, and had a repl...

Info on KCM713F

Does anyone any info on Martha, my 1968 2door saloon? Originally Almond Green then painted gloss brown-details with the car when I bought it suggest that it was bought new from the St.Helens area on Merseyside, and used there until 2-3 years ago. Any info is appreciated! 8)

Re: When grinding, wear eye protection

Also on the subject of angle grinders, never remove the guard-I was cutting the exhaust off a Honda Accord a good few years back, and the exhaust had a clamp where the nuts had rounded off so I removed the guard ( with goggles on) donned a pair of heavy duty leather work gloves, got a good grip on the...

Judge Dredd and the Morris Minor!!

Years ago in the late 70s there was a superb futuristic comic called 2000 AD, one of the Judge Dredd story lines featured the theft of classic cars in the episode 'The Antique Car Heist'. The Morris depicted in the story was a lowlight version, already rare by the time the storyline was written at t...

Moggy Madness!!

I was browsing good old eBay the other day, and there's some marvellous retro stuff on there (and stuff best forgotten), I saw this gem from the past-the pop group Madness released the single 'Driving in my car' on picture disc and it featured a Minor convertible which was a bit shabby,I saw the mus...

Re: The heart is back in the Beast!

All done, wasn't bad at all-the aluminium gearbox made things a lot easier weight wise, and I left the gearbox crossmember on-careful use of the trolley jack and a scissor jack persuaded the box in. I might have some fun when it comes to putting the pedals back in tho'.......[frame] http://mmo...

Thanks LouiseM, I didn't look close enough in that section! Not too worried now if I break them, careful as I am when removing bits like this. 8)

Coat hanger/windscreen visor plastic clip removal

Is there an easy way to remove the sun visor plastic clips and the coat hanger ones above the door without damaging them? Failing that, is there a place that does replacements-I couldn't see any in the ESM catalogue. 8)

Re: The heart is back in the Beast!

I'm not worried about that, I don't have a hoist (can get one) but I took the gearbox & clutch/flywheel out with the engine in situ and I didn't find it particularly difficult so I'll put it back in the same way. Must get that new clutch pedal in first though I think...... 8)
