Re: Sell or council skip?

Replacing with seats from another and original 1961 model.

I'll stick them in the free section once I've done the swap over next week, give it a week or two, and then if no one wants them, bin them sadly.

Sell or council skip?

Are the old but original knackered leather front seats out of my 1961 2 door actually worth anything to anyone?
Frames are ok, but the beige covers are pretty tatty, and bits of foam are falling onto the carpet from within.

Bin or skip opinions required

Re: 2 door v 4door front seats?

Is there a market for the two bladdered seats I wonder. Both need a full recovering, and I assume the straps and stuffing are knackered too, or do I simply fling them onto the council tip skip?

Re: 2 door v 4door front seats?

Absolutely chuffed.
Just won an ebay auction for the 2 1961 front seats for my 1961 Moggy! :P

Just need recolouring and then I can sell it unfortunately.
This has been the missing link for months, as I wanted to keep it as original as possible.

Thank you.
That's that sorted then. 8)

2 door v 4door front seats?

Will a pair of front seats out of 4 door model (1961) fit as a straight swap into a 2 door version, and will they still tilt forward to enable access into the back?

Re: Was XBU911 ever found?

My son has just spent a considerable amount of money on a comprehensive tracking system on his new car, but even that's not fool proof, and the guy that fitted it told us that.

I'm going to put a heavy duty locking steel post in front of my parking bay and a hidden PIR sensor. It's taking me a long time to find the car I seek, and once found no twonk is going to help themselves to it Good move. It's ALL about slowing them down and making them move onto some other easier p...

Re: Was XBU911 ever found?

As ever - the answer is to fit a secret switch -and use it every time the car is parked. I urge everyone to do this ! Surprised the reg number hasn't turned up on a Porsche ! Won't stop 'em hauling it away on a low loader though ey? On saying that, as had been said well over a squillion times now, ...

Re: Was XBU911 ever found?

I recently reported a very suspect car to the police and dvla. The police said they would not investigate unless the dvla asked them to, the dvla replied saying they would not investigate further unless the police asked them to. I replied to both pointing out the problem with their respective repli...

Re: Was XBU911 ever found?

Does anybody in here know or keep in touch with Mr and Mrs Hepworth? I can quite literally feel the pain they must have gone through over this. Did they ever get a replacement? Great and happy memories get attached to cars. That's why most of us love them so much. Next to a dog, they are mans best f...

Does anyone know if there was ever any conclusion to this dreadful theft. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2257019/Thieves-steal-1968-Morris-Minor-pensioner-driven-day-45-years-visiting-wife-hospital.html The story was just posted/linked on my facebook wall by a fellow classic enthusiast, and...

Oh yes. It's got to be done. You'll enjoy the visual feast if nothing else!

Personally, I prefer the November show, but for that, I do think you need 2 days.

Re: Waxoyl or bitumen based underseal?

I worry about rust being 'sealed' in, or do these products actually halt it from getting worse and spreading? Remember those little bottles of 'Kurust'' that we used to brush on, the manufacturers claiming that it actually KILLED rust? :-? I can't reasonably expect every single last trace of rust be...

Waxoyl or bitumen based underseal?

Moggsy is going in for a full rust removal , body repair and re-spray at my local classic car renovator specialist in April, and he's talking about a specific type of underseal, the name that slips my memory presently. I always though clear waxoyl was the favourite, as it gets into places that under...
