Re: Interior door lock
Another point to be careful of. The op states a 1957 car. For many years (not sure how many) the exterior key-lock was always on the right-hand door, irrespective of which side the steering wheel was on, hence no difference between mechanisms on LHD and RHD cars. Yes, my father's 1963 convertible h...

Re: Interior door lock
The interior lock 'switch' is only for the passenger door on later cars (1963 onwards), which had different locks all-round to meet new safety legislation. No Minor ever had a drivers door that was lockable by any other means than using the key. The ESM parts you refer to will be for a passenger do...

Re: Windscreen rubber
What frustrates me about this situation is, I have successfully installed a windscreen in Mog before. If I've done it in the past, why can't I do it now? But you're not wrong, Mr Bond. A glassfitter in Jefferson City, about thirty miles from me, is willing to give it a try. Now I just have t...

Windshields are one of the few things I don't mess with. It may seem more expensive to pay a professional to do it but you have much less chance of having to buy another!

Re: What was your first car?
Yes, it's a 1955 B31 my father bought as scrap many, many years ago; probably around the early 80's. I've only been about since 82 so I like to think my Moggie was already waiting for me somewhere :) Also in the picture behind the other motorcycle (old Zundapp 2 stroke) is a very sorry looking 1st g...

Re: What was your first car?
General Motors certainly know how to confuse. Just googled '98 Chevy Monza ... definitely Corsa-related but with a boot/trunk. Also found an earlier Chevy Monza (built Canada and Brazil apparently), which looks like a close relative of the Opel Ascona/Vauxhall Cavalier AND of the Opel/Vauxhall Vect...

Re: Glove box restoration
They look downright luxurious now! Nice work.
For the outside of mine I used some POR-15 I had lying around that was about to expire which made them much more resistant to the inevitable water coming in under the windscreen.

Re: What was your first car?
My pick-up! (My father bought it as a present for me when I was 14, only ended up restoring it many, MANY years later)
First car I actually drove around in was a '98 Corsa saloon (Called Monza here) which I still own.

Reminds me of Duke Nukem 3D we used to play in school.

Re: Morris Minor Music
Haven't fitted a stereo to mine but I usually carry a portable Bluetooth speaker which actually does a pretty good job placed in the glove box.
Tunes are Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Rolling Stones and the like; good driving music.

Re: Our other hobbies and passions
I started on NES and even "restored" my old console a few months ago; emulators are fine for most games but there's a tiny almost imperceptible lag between a button press and a response that is not there on the original console. Newest system from Nintendo now is called the Switch, fun par...

Re: REAR BUMPER/VALANCE BOLT REMOVAL
If nothing else works you could try welding something to the head of the bolt, of course using a lot of care not to damage the bumper, and only after grinding the chrome off. Hopefully less extreme measures will do it though, good luck!

Re: Our other hobbies and passions
Thanks! Haven't gotten to use neither the BSA nor the Solex much yet, traffic around here isn't really well suited for either and I still have the paperwork issue to tackle on the BSA; plus it's the rainy season so even the Moggy has pretty much remained inside lately. VeloSolex does have a definite...

Re: Broken Pushrods - How?
How old was the pushrod that broke? If recent maybe there was just a defect in the metal that somehow got through quality control. I second Phil's advice, I'd also check the rocker for alignment and the valve in case it is bent or somehow getting stuck. The wear on the side of the pushrod does appea...

Re: Not what it used to be?
This is my first time here since the upgrade, some of the last responses I have are still from Roy and it's definitely not the same without him. On the more positive side it seems pictures are now easier to post (though I haven't yet managed to get them in the text rather than all together underneat...

That wooden bike looks amazing! Also the steam engines, really intricate work.
Hadn't been to the forum in a while but it's nice to know it's still very active. I've just recently finished restoring this old BSA B31 and the VeloSolex:
And I also play piano, and video games.

Cheap, fast or done well, you can only choose two.
With enough people and budget it's feasible. Keep in mind before the show a thorough analysis of the car is done and all necessary parts are sourced.

Silicone, they're much more expensive but will last many times more and give you less headaches.

Re: How is this possible.
Clearly the weatherstrip on the inside is fractions smaller than the one on the outside, bending the door juust the right amount to get it to close properly. Seriously now, maybe while fitting them you managed to push the door's front end a little bit outward on the hinges (in case you hadn't tried ...
