Re: Increasing petrol tank capacity.
Morning all. Apologies for the delay in replying but I did exactly that. When I did mine a few years ago, all the larger replacement tanks protruded into the spare wheel's space which was something I didnt want. I got 2 secondhand tanks and cut the top off one and the bottom off the other keeping as...

Re: Electric cooling fan.
Another vote for Revotec from me too. Mine is fitted in front of the rad but where ever you put yours, make sure the fan blows in the right direction. I also like their temp controller too. I cut the radiator hose in two to insert it and it makes a nice tidy job of sensing the temp. I'm not sure if ...

Re: Exhaust mounting
Hello Jowett, Sorry for the delay and also apologies for the poor sketches I've attached. Unfortunately I don't have any photos as I now use a long centre branch manifold and larger bore exhaust. The extra bracket worked fine though until the exhaust needed replacing. It wasn't anything very glamoro...

Re: Exhaust mounting
Hello all, I did something similar to mine too although not quite a s Declan's version. It keeps the front of the exhaust "in time" with any engine movement and leaves the rest of the exhaust to sort itself out which it can easily do on the rear hanger strap. This way, there's no relative ...

Thanks MM,
It's always nice to get personal experience from people so many thanks for replying. Tyres aren't something I buy too often so it's nice to get something and then be pleased with it.
Best wishes, Colin.

Re: Anyone running 165/70 tyres with Van rims?
Hello all, I hope no one minds me resurrecting this post but I've been trawling through all the many tyre threads and this one seems the most appropriate for my question. It seems a shame to start another one and go over old ground. Basically I have van wheels on my saloon and need new tyres all rou...

Re: Saluting good customer service
I'm another ESM fan. I've never had any problems with what they've sent so I can't comment on that side of things but if I order online, it comes very quickly thanks to both them and the postman and if I have a query over what I'm after, a phone call soon sorts things out. It's nice to deal with a c...

Re: Series 2 rear screen pitting and edge nibbling.....
I'd go along with Steve above. The window in my garage is level with the vice on my bench and any angle grinding sparks go that way. I didn't realise until one day when the tolerant Mrs C remarked that the window was dirtier inside than outside. Cleaning it snagged the cloth but using a Stanley knif...

Re: Regular engine runs during winter storage?
Hello all, For what its worth, I like to give mine a good run rather than a tickover on the drive. i feel it gets everything moving. I do push the clutch pedal down though if its going to be standing for any great length of time. I use a piece of wood pushing on the pedal from the clamp on the steer...

Thanks Phil.
I'm building up a "box of bits" as this is my next project. I'll check out and see what the pipe fittings are so I'm ready.
Thanks again for your superb knowledge.
Cheers, Colin.

Re: Rebuilding brakes
Evening all. Just to clarify in my own mind please, the different brake pipe fittings mentioned in this post are to suit the Riley front brakes rather than the Wolseley rears? Am I right assuming standard Minor rear brake pipes and fittings will fit standard Wolseley back brakes? Also, and I've sear...

Re: Front Trunnion Horizontal Pin End Play
Hello all and a happy new year. Carrying on this thread but going back to the post about the front tie bars and their bushes, I've just received some new rubber bushes to do the poly bush at the front/rubber bush at the back set up. Unfortunately none of the bushes now seem to have the little moulde...

Re: drain plug tap
Hello all, I think Declan is spot on. It's usually a parallel hole and a tapered plug. BSP = British Standard Pipe. The extra "T" on the end would mean a taper whilst a "P" would be parallel. That way, the hole tap is parallel and easily and cheaply made whilst the die machines t...

Re: Carpets & underlay
hello, I've always thought it was best to mount seats and seat belts securely to the floor and then fit the carpet around and over all the brackets. That way there's no twist or give in the fixing bolt if the carpet compresses when a load goes on the harness or seat base. To keep things tidy though,...

Re: Domes/bulges in the boot floor
hello all,
As already mentioned, my money's on both giving a bit of clearance for the exhaust and stiffening up the floor structure. And if you're doing it on one side, why not do it on both to make it symmetrical. Just an opinion though.

I enjoy Bangers and Cash as its quite easy viewing and pretty entertaining. Has there ever been a Morris featured though? There are quite often one or two in the background of the showroom but they never seem to be one of the featured cars. Too common or not different enough?

Re: Move handbrake/ford 5 speed
Thanks for that Phil. I'd seen posts before about the Frontline shortened casting but I wasn't too sure if the entire gearbox was shorter and I would therefore need to have a longer propshaft. Now I know. Thanks for the photo of your handbrake in its moved back position. A picture's worth a thousand...
