Re: Euphemisms

I had it a decade ago in an aging S-class Merc (what can I tell ya, I was going through a mid-life crisis and imagined myself as a plutocrat). It was called 'adaptive cruise control' then, if I remember rightly, and would allegedly disengage the cruise control if I got too close to the car in front,...

Re: Is he being a bit optimistic?

There's a used parts trader on eBay currently trying to flog a used Traveller rear wing that needs rust repair for just under ninety quid. All you can do is sigh and move on, who 3,he might find someone daft enough to pay it, and if not then it'll be back in a few weeks with a more realistic price tag

Re: glove box liners for a 1961 factory built convertible

I've been on the waiting list at Tom Roy's for a decent used one for years - they're always grotty on scrap cars and I refuse to pay the extortionate price that new ones cost, as they're nothing more than flocked cardboard!

Re: Euphemisms

What's the translation for "Your call is important to us"? So far as I can tell, it's: "We exploit too few staff to do the job and don't give a [insert your choice of expletive here] about your call or business". Didn't we have a topic about a ginger bush a while ago. No, stop it, don't go there. :...

I saw this online yesterday, posted by the person who'd got permission to enter. To say I'm green with envy would be a massive understatement!

Re: Disgusting behavour by Jeremy Clarkson

I've moved this to 'off topic' which I'm assuming is where the original poster meant to put it anyway to be fair. I'm pleased to see that even with polarised opinions we're all still able to keep things civilised  . By the way, I'm massively anti fox-hunting, but then, as someone would shrilly ...

Re: Wot No Garage

A very timely question - I have been investigating solutions for just this problem only in the past fortnight (although for a - excuse the swear word - Mini rather than a Minor). I've been reading some very negative reviews of pretty much all the covers no matter how expensive, so now considering so...

Re: Cheap winter car

The trouble with a Land rover is the more you use it the more it rots and breaks after owning five I have vowed never again . Nothing more versatile than a decent Landy - I'd never have sold my 300TDi CSW because it was just so flippin' useful. Could take ALL my foster kids, and some of my ma...

Re: Attachment Tab has vanished!

Not so much a 'ghost' in the machine as a 'malevolent poltergeist'. I'll see if I can find time to have a fiddle around with this during the week, but I'm going to be honest and say I'll not devote masses of time to it because this board is living out its last breaths really, and there's little poin...

Okay, ref pic uploading, I think this should now be resolved. Can you please replicate the steps that gave you an error and let us know (either way).
Keith, received your email this morning and will try to have a look today or tomorrow

Re: Why has Message Board Replacement been locked??

That thread had served its purpose really, and it would normally have been closed off automatically (being of the type where that happens if the thread has no new posts to it in X days) were it not for the fact that the 'creaking board software' described elsewhere in this thread only does that auto...

Well, thank you for your contribution there, and in other circumstances I'd probably agree. But we actually don't have much of a 'Team' to update really - there's Simon Mitchell who acts as my moderator and wingman extraordinaire, and... ummmm .... me. Makes for a pretty short list :o . I'd love to ...

Absolutely no offence taken Don - I agree entirely that the threads are too useful to lose if we can do anything, so as I said I'm happy to grant specific permissions to replace missing pics if the original poster is able and willing to do so!

Re: A plea to restore valuable restoration threads

The usual but not only reason that pictures go missing from threads is that they are no longer available at the place they were hosted, and redirected, from. In older iterations of the message board, images simply couldn't be posted in threads, and were just links to the images hosted elsewhere onli...
