Re: Morris minor million

1620 MY it was the car found in 2015 up in Whitney Bay. Only got it earlier this year and so far we’ve done nothing but store it and source the odd part. Will be done eventually but there are two others in the queue, a lowlight and a SII van that have been waiting patiently!

Re: Morris minor million

Looks absolutely stunning! Congratulations! 8)

I think I saw the shell a few months back when I popped in whilst working in Bristol. Certainly A LOT better than my car #281!

Re: Spotted today.

I've been rumbled! Got 656 BPK or 'Beryl' recently drove her back from Surrey with only slight fuel vaporisation at Stonehenge. Nice and original car straight and genuine it's quite an early 1000 as the model was introduced October '56 and the car is November '56. Also in my favourite colour of turq...

Re: I have a problem about 1948 mm

I think home market lowlights had a bit of a strange dipping setup. As per the handbook and workshop manual (1st editions) the cars had 'anti-dazzle' lamps. When on dipped only the nearside lamp came on - the offside was ' extinguished'. The idea being when you were on main beam and changed to dippe...

Re: I have a problem about 1948 mm

Started off with 482s - offside was a lamp nearside was a 'reflector'. May have been different depending on lighting regs in other markets. Switched to 488s in early 1949, both being lamps. The 482 fits flush to the wings and gives a really smart look however they're angled and small. The 488 was an...

Re: My Traveller has reached 60yrs old today

Thanks, I would have thought it can't be impossible. Other car companies used the plates in the same way others used Smiths and Lucas. Just got to find the right ones. Great photo, saved on my phone as it's a good reference. Thanks for all the help guys! :D

Re: My Traveller has reached 60yrs old today

Me and dad are planning on going to Beaulieu if all goes well, drove back from the great Dorset steam fair today in the 803 van. We'll be sure to look out for the plate guy, will try Tippers too. 'Standard' bluemels letters and digits were white plastic, aluminium ones were a more expensive option I...

Re: My Traveller has reached 60yrs old today

Would love a series 2 traveller, great car! I take it you made up the plate, where did you get the numbers and digits? They're old bluemels ones. I'm looking for some for my lowlight I've got two Ls four Ms and two 9s. Need two 8s two 2s and two backs. Nerdy I know but they're the ones it should hav...

Re: List of Keys numbers / Chassis or Reg

If you have a saloon or convertible then you can disassemble the boot handle to find out the original key code provided it hasn't been changed. This can also be done with the rear handles on travellers and vans I think. When I bought my daily driver around about 2 years ago the key supplied was a ch...

Re: Something for Carlo...

Thanks guys, credit should go to dad really, he came up with a pretty effective way of getting it off. We used four old spark plugs (not L10s!) knocked the porcelain off then welded tubes to each four plug. Another smaller sideways tube was then welded to the top so a bar could slide through. This c...

This is what originals look like, definatly vyanide as used on the cars. If you've got intact original door pulls they're the same material.[frame]Image[/frame]

Sealed beam headlamps first fitted in September '66. The car for sale was registered 1st of July 1966 meaning the pre focals are correct.

Re: windscreen rubbers splitscreen

That's correct Scott, the owner of MPJ 584 used the remains on my MM as a template for the length of rubber moulding he had made up. The windscreen surround on the very early cars have a thinner exterior chrome strip and brown hidem banding (is that how it's pronounced?) on the inside. Not sure how ...

Re: Meet Rosie

Nice straight looking Minor, look after it! Not many like that now... Being 18 I get teased by my friends at school, driving a scruffy rose taupe saloon. But they know how enthusiastic I am over it and they too have come to like it for what it is. I couldn't modify it, the Minor just sits right when...
