Rust - Top of Battery Tray

Hi All

Mine has a really nice repair done in this area but I have seen the same damage on many Minors & i'm interested in knowing the cause.

Understand rust in the tray bottom from leaky batteries etc but what causes this bit at the top in this specific spot?

Thanks

Re: Wheel Bearing Greasing & Torquing

I have standard bearings , not taper roller or anything such as that.
The question was poorly worded - I should have asked for a how to tighten different types of bearings & the reasons for the differences.

Thanks

Wheel Bearing Greasing & Torquing

Hi All Couple of Qs around wheel bearings. 1)Following packing and installation of wheel bearings do you fill the balance of the space with grease or is the quantity in the bearing with a coat on the spindle enough? 2) When tightening a bearing I understand you torque it, back it off, torque etc and...

Re: Split Pin? Rear Shocks

Thanks Guys, I remember taking them out years ago but I couldn't find the hole. Do they go in horizontal i.e parallel to the spring?

Split Pin? Rear Shocks

Hi Guys

Do the rear shocks have a split pin at the body end of the linkage? Mine have castellated nuts however the studs don't appear to have any holes for insertion of a split pin. Also how tight should these nuts be done up?

Thanks

Re: Help to brake bleeding

Hi Here is an excellent guide I used to get me going. https://www.mmoc.org.uk/Messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=8563 Couple of other things - Do your 1st bleed with the drums off to allow the pistons to extend and retract. Ensure after this that your brakes are correctly adjusted up to the drum before fu...

Taillight Issue

Hi All
On my 1957 Minor my RH taillights do not work. I have voltage to the contacts and when i touch the two contacts together for the taillight / stop lights the bulb illuminates.

However no taillight on its own.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Scuttle / Kick Panel Installation Advice

Hi Guys

I have new scuttle / kick panels. I see the loose flap of material that will be secured by the draught strip and the parcel shelf screws. Are there any other securing fixtures for the panels or is that it & it is held in by the carpet at the bottom?

Re: Correct Brake Pedal Position

Thanks Guys

I tweaked my adjustment - It was pretty close. My pedal stops & is firm at 1 1/2 - 2 inches from the floor. I was curious as I don't have a benchmark to compare it to but from what you have said that is pretty normal.

Thanks

Can anyone tell me the proper clearance from the top of the rear axle bump stop to the body?

Mine looks low but its been so long I don't remember what it looked like.
