Re: The Lianor. Suzuki engined Traveller.

It looks like it fits very nicely.

Like you, it's important to me to fit something that doesn't need the bulkhead cutting, which really narrows the options.

Looking forward to hearing a lot more!

Re: 12g1316

Partly for future reference, but I think the smog hole thread is 7/16 20UNF. I've measure the head, and I've got some sinking to do! The head depth is 2.66 inch, which means it's had 90Thou skimmed I think. I measured an exhaust valve, as I'm not cleaning the head til I've actually done the restorat...

Re: Top hat adapter

I must be honest, I've never understood the bashing the Marina recieved. Have you driven one? Its the Triumph sourced gearbox that was the worst part of the one I ran for a while! No I've never had the chance actually. Funny you should mention Triumph, I briefly run a dolomite for a company car for...

Re: 12g1316

Yeah I've read loads about them as I intended to do the same with a 998 metro I owned years ago before someone went up the back of it.

Might make up a new exhaust as I imagine the standard is a little restrictive, but the larger bore aftermarket system is too big.

Re: 12g1316

Ideal thanks Phil.

Assuming any porting etc will be overkill on a 1098 block?

Re: 12g1316

In that case if I just wind a bolt in and 'trim' it at either end that should be fine?

Re: 12g1316

Beauty thank you Phil.

Would this not have the same effect as having a leaner mixture?

I'd be happy to drill and tap it if I can't get the correct thread.

Would brass or steel be sufficient with a bit of loctite or equivalent?

12g1316

Evening all

I've just got my hands on a complete 12g1316 for a relatively ok price (I didn't pay £400 for it).

Now am I right in thinking it's basically a US spec 12g940?

It has 'smog holes' (whatever these are) in the head.

How would I go about plugging these?

Cheers all

Hif38 Carb Bottom Plate Screw

Evening all.

I'm after a screw for the bottom plate of a hif38 carb, I think hif44 are the same.

If anyone has one, or a scrab hif body I will happily take it off your hands

Cheers all

Re: Quality tools

Albeit my entire life has been metric, I was talked into buying snap-on tools on finance, as my employer ensured me "I'd never own better". I understand you're paying for the after care, but I always found there was a reason (read excuse) not to repair or swap out a faulty item. I was given a halfor...

If I was going to buy a Marina/Ital now it would be the 1.8 TC Coupe.
So an inflated allegro?

Re: Top hat adapter

Thanks for the numbers Mike. I imagine there's more than a couple of hundred Minors wearing Marina hubs.

I must be honest, I've never understood the bashing the Marina recieved. Same with Allegro I suppose

It's good to see you guys from behind the scenes joining in. From my experience with other forums, people can accept down time and server issues provided they're kept up to date. I obviously don't expect anyone to be apologising or letting us know you had beans for lunch, but I'm sure I'm not the on...

Re: Top hat adapter

See, I'm learning!

I can't imagine there's many marina hubs around anymore to use for the conversion.

Given how rarely I see a marina anymore I also suspect there's more Minors with Marina hubs than Marinas!

Re: 1098 Manifold Swap

All is not lost I think. You can use a 12G787 manifold (on ebay at the moment) and secure the Hif38 carb with an easily made adaptor plate or just the 2 bolts. I'm sure I've seen it done. Yeah I'm pretty sure you can mount it with the diagonals. The carb I've bought has a good manifold attached to ...

I think they're 60 degree, same as Ford. if that's the case, Burton Power might stock them.
That confirms what I measured, 60°. I'll have a look thank you

Re: 1098 Manifold Swap

Hi Rob, Thanks ve been out and had a look for the manifold, but I think that lockdown might be driving me mad as I can’t find it. I’ve got a sneaking suspicion I may have passed it on to someone already and forgotten... I’m really sorry - if it transpires it is in the garage I’ll let you know! No w...

From the little i know, waxstat for economy, waxjet for stable performance.

I'm probably way off the mark, and have no idea how each is achieved
