Re: Remote brake assist servo - how they work
As a tidy up to the thread. I did perfom the various tests and it seems the servo is working but perhaps not as expected when comparing to a modern system. So either I am expecting too much or there is something alse not quite right.. In any case the car does stop when asked to and indeed on the dow...

Re: Availability (or lack thereof) of 145/80 R14 tyres
Having read this thread but not needing any tyres at the moment, I thought I would have a look at some of the German suppliers. Never had any problems before but........Same story , none avaialable apart from Blockley ones and then at €139 each!

Re: Remote brake assist servo - how they work
I am never certain whether the servo assist in my Traveller is really working. Is there a way of testing it? I suppose the vacuum is the key element as without it , the thing simply does not function. I did install a repair kit which does not seem to make any difference but perhaps I am expecting to...

Re: Engine steady bar - how tight should it be?
It is a good job that Morris is not a daily driver as it would have been unbearable.
Have it in mind to visit relations in the south of England in June in my Traveller and had this noise not gone away, then this would not have been sustainable.

Re: Fuel gauge reading half-full when empty
The replacement glove box liners that I hav einstalled do not have pre-drilled holes for access to the speedo screws. Yes , after carefully marking out , you could drill a holes yourself. Up to now however, for the installation of additional gauges and other electrical system, the glove boxes need t...

Re: Engine steady bar - how tight should it be?
I have had an annoying noise emanating ( I thought) from behind the speedo. Have mentioned this a few times in some previous threads and I see now, for more than 4 years! Any way, on scouring the forum for ideas and inspirations because I have tied down literally everything there is behind the speed...

Re: Fuel gauge reading half-full when empty
Solved the problem today although it took a while. Firstly the Fuel gauge sender got removed and checked for its variable resistance which was ok - I do not quite understand how it is able to function when immersed in petrol but obviously it is designed that way. Then the glove boxes and their frame...

Re: Fuel gauge reading half-full when empty
I agree with Bill. You don't have to remove the glovebox liners - and the passenger side one is very easy anyway. Every Minor 1000 glovebox liner was made with a hole in it to access the speedo screw. It does sound as if the voltage stabiliser (not the voltage regulator which is something completel...

Not without drilling a hole in the glove box liner, no.

Re: Fuel gauge reading half-full when empty
Rather than open a new thread I have opted to tag onto this one. Electrical gremlins. Up to last week, the black fuel gauge on my 69 Traveller worked fine - when it had a power supply but we solved that. Then it started to misbehave. I did the standard check by earthing the sender wire , when the ga...

Re: changing language
A constant irritation to see and hear British people using US Americanisms. The auto correct, if you do not purposely change it, will always default to english(US) so the spelling will use color instead of colour and spell defence with an "s" etc. Probably not particulary important I suppo...

Any MM events in the south-east of England in May?
I have it in mind during the second half of May, i.e. next month , to visit relations in the Reading area and come over in my German registered '69 Traveller. It is LHD which will be fun.
Are there any Morris minor events at this time in the area which we could attend ??????

Re: Voltmeter -false low readings
All a bit embarassing really. Asking the forum for help and advice when the solution was a new brain. But thanks for the feedback. At least with the dashboard dismantled for access to the rear of the speedometer, it gave me a chance to replace the instrument lighting with brighter LEDs. Now to put i...

Re: Voltmeter -false low readings
I have solved it! I disconnected each of the 3 green wires in turn from the fuse box until with one removed, I got the 12V reading on the others with the multimeter and also with the voltmeter inside the car. This rogue wire turned out to be the feed to the windscreen wipers. Now I have a bonnet ext...

Re: Voltmeter -false low readings
Yes, i am using a multimeter and am now following the circuit along. I think it is worth doing even though the original point of the exercise was just to fit a voltmeter. In effect, it is showing me that soemthing is amiss even though no symptoms are present e.g weak lights or wipers. Have disconnec...

Re: Voltmeter -false low readings
Sooooo, the plot thickens. I used the piggy back so that the white wire from the ignition output was in place and the Voltmeter connected up. Only 11V !! So I disconnected the white wire to see what happens and the voltmeter read 12,5 V !!! Thus for my logic there is some problem with the white wire...

Re: Voltmeter -false low readings
Did you do this because you had similar problems to mine? Anyway, this morning after having my think, I removed the ignition switch and as suggested cleaned the terminal tags. Before doing this however, i checked the Voltage with a multimeter which gave the proper readings of 12,6V on both the live ...
