Re: Front suspension: successful replacement of eyebolt + bushes!
Hi all, thanks for the additional comments, all taken on board and all make sense. Hadn't thought about the load on the cross member so good to know for the other side, and future reference. To be fair, my club colleague did also suggest knocking the arm along the bar just fractionally, but it was m...

Front suspension: successful replacement of eyebolt + bushes!
Hello all, Just wanted to share some pics of a very satisfying Sunday afternoon/evening changing the front suspension eyebolt and bushes on my '67 2 door. I've had the parts in stock for over a year (added to an earlier Bull Motif order to get free delivery) and finally had a free afternoon to attem...

Painting wheels - undercoating??
Hi all, Too wet to take the car out, second wet weekend now, and going stir crazy so thought I'd do a minor job that (hopefully) won't have the car off the road too long! Planning on taking the wheels off one at a time and painting them. Tyres will stay on. Was planning on sanding down the rusty rim...

Re: high pitched squeak/squeal from wheel?.....
Thanks Mogbob, sounds like a plan should I find no bit for the return spring to hook onto. :D Ref the squeal though, just restating for the wider forum that I don't think the return spring/brake thing is related to the squeal as its v high pitched and definatly sounds like metal on metal, and in my ...

high pitched squeak/squeal from wheel?.....
Hi all, I'm part way working through the 'check-list' to find out what is causing a particular noise I'm experiencing while driving, but thought I'd check in anyway to see if this is common and someone says "ah yes, you need to fix/repair/replace/check/grease/oil/clean...the xxx".... :D Th...

Re: Gearbox oil nut - socket size?
ah, same as the wheel nuts, good to know, thanks bmc, and everyone else too.
Any thanks for the 'bolt' 'nut' clarification too, good to know.
Matt
PS: Rear axle oil.....same as engine/gearbox (20w50)?
(I know steering rack is different)

Interesting scrapyards in/near Norwich?
Hi all, My son and I have some time to kill while in Norwich this Saturday and would be great if we found an old yard to explore. He is also into photography so wants to take some arty shots of old cars! We can travel outside of Norwich if you know of one fairly nearby?? The older the yard the bette...

Re: exhaust strap
Nope, there is a separate clamp that does that, just forward of the crossmember from memory. This is a clamp holding/hooking the exhaust onto a clip fixed to the same nut on the crossmember that holds the end of the torsion bar in place.

Re: exhaust strap
Ok, thanks BMC, I will remove the clamp.
Hopefully there is enough of a gap there so it doesn't bang against the crossmember. Will sort it this weekend.

Re: exhaust strap
There should be two straps - one in front of the axle - and the other at the rear of the car. If one has broken - assume the other is same age/ready to fail...so renew them both! Hi all, picking up this thread as I had a particular question about the number of straps/supports for my exhaust. I curr...

Re: Worn track end rods?
Mmmm, ok let me try the nylock again. Getting enough exposed thread pulled through was never the problem, it was that as soon as the nylon park of the nut came into contact with the thread, it all but got stuck and the ball joint was less resistant so that started turning instead :-? Thanks fir your...

Re: Worn track end rods?
Thanks Les and Panky for your prompt replies. Les, your hammer suggestion is not working fur me at the moment, and unfortunately Panky I don't have a ball joint splitter......so...... How about this improvisation below, I've locked two nuts together. Both a perfect fit fur the thread. Seems nice and...

Re: Worn track end rods?
Ok, there must be a knack to this, how do I tighten up the lock nut on this TRE?..... As soon as the nylon bit hits the thread then the ball joint starts turning around too and so it is no where near tight enough? What does experience say is the knack for this :D Thanks[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbi...
