Re: Back on Track.
Thanks both, Looks like another weekend is shot, the Boss is intent on me trying my new found welding skills touching up a few cracked welds on his truck prior to its annual test at the end of the month. I guess I cant blow too many holes in the crash bars

Re: 1967 number plate
I don't think Citroen would agree with you there, The Citroen Traction "Commerciale" was a front wheel drive 5door hatchback designed and built before the second world war  Ok call it the first "modern" hatchback, certainly earlier than the first claim applied to the Maxi ...

Re: 1967 number plate
Indeed! And it's a personal choice. I'd have silver and black because they look right. Not the black felt tip on cardboard I saw on a Mini today in Morrisons car park. Actually thats spot on for an old mini - along with a cross of tape that - while imitating the "rally driver" look - actu...

Back on Track.
After a hiatus over winter caused by a mixture of my own health issues and the demands of disabled family members (thankfully I have a very understanding employer), I have finally started work on the beast again. I did find time to take an FE course at a local college on Mig Welding and brazing - ba...

Re: 1967 number plate
I'm sure that although the reflective white/yellow plates were introduced in 1968 they were optional until 1973 and only from Jan 1973 black/silver plates can no longer be used? This is the correct view For vehicles manufactured before 1 January 1973, number plates may be the traditional "blac...

Re: Translation required please
It would be great if only BT Openjoke could sort out the issue with my line that has caused random disconnections ever since I first had broadband. Trying to convince them that the issue is local between my phone socket and the cabinet at the bottom of the road. As I am on Fibre now the link between...

Re: Register car in UK
From the experience of a colleague who ran into huge problems when he purchased an imported Mazda Bongo (originally from Japan) Generally to permanently import a car you will need a "NOVA" number (Notification Of Vehicle Arrival) ISTR that comes from Revenue and Customs, The car may need a...

Still baffles me but then any computer instructions baffle me! Some of this stuff - along with pc repair and building I learned from myself... a result of having Win 95 crash on xmas eve in the year of its launch and not wanting to be without my new toy over xmas, I decided then that in future I wa...

Re: F 1 on TV ?
Life long F1 fan until the mid noughties... even as a registered MSA Marshal that could easily meet the criteria to work at the BGP if I wanted... I have no interest in F1 now, not even as a Marshal. F1 is losing its focus in the pursuit of glamour, I dont want to know which worthless celeb is on th...

Re: F 1 on TV ?
What happened to Windows 9? :-? Marketing decision as I understand it. Trying to break the perception that every other windows release is a donkey. Look at the history. 95 was poor, 95osr2 worked OK, 98 wasn't great, 98se was much better, millennium was really shaky, XP still going today.. Vista a ...

It is worth noting that we have also acquired 2 very rusted MGB GT's from around 1980 if anyone knows of someone needing parts, I am also told there may be a split screen coming in restorable condition, but I have not yet seen it.

I started dismantling a Red "G' reg 2 door today, This is another car that arrived this week. Before starting on the dis-assembly I recommissioned the ignition system, put a can of clean fuel into the supply line and managed to get her running, had her going for over an hour, no overheating etc...

Re: 3 breaking in West Wales (Pembrokeshire)
More sad piles of rust arrived today, along with a Triumph 2000 mk1 that had ceased to exist beyond its rear axle. Am I crazy for feeling angry? Most of the Morris' still wear their last tax disc and most seem to have been left to rot over the last 10 years, so up to that point they were viable cars...

I'll have to check the gallery - I'm sure there was one in there, there may be additions to the group later this week - we had a call about them this morning. Right now I am desperately trying to create space so they can be stored while I dismantle them, I may have to donate a couple of weekends to ...

Oh come on surely you love the realism of that big touchscreen? Oh!!! its a touch screen? I thought he was swatting flies :D I'll stick with my 27" iMac thanks, as for the presenters "banter"..... its so painfully false, who on earth felt that the presenters had sufficient chemistry ...
