Re: Wheel size and tyre size
Thanks for the replies. beware...there have been a number of problems.reported with these wheels. I only read about rust. Isn't that just a matter of good paint? Any other problem with these wheels? If you are visiting UK I have some good (need clean and so on) standard car 1000 wheels. For a small ...

Wheel size and tyre size
2 of my wheels are not in very good condition. Small swing in axial direction creates vibration when driving 60mph. When fitting new tyres they tried to balance as good as possible, but they are able to correct this. As far as I know new standard wheels are not available, but for the Van they sell t...

Thanks.
I took the challenge and took it apart completely, cleaned everything, new grease, and also replaced the bottom one.

Exchange dust seal upper trunnion
Hi,
I must replace the upper dust seal as shown in the picture below. Do I have to completely disassemble the whole (top and bottom) or it is possible to disassemble the upper part only?

Re: Automatic dimming head lights
Here is a supplier, don't know if they will ship outside uk? http://www.jcrsupplies.co.uk/products/ALTERNATOR_REBUILD_PARTS Thanks for the link! Looking at my problem (frequent increasing of the voltage, and dropping back to normal) which parts might cause this? (electronics is not my expertise) [f...

Re: Breather question.
In my car the breather of the rocker cover is connected to the air filter, while the other breather is connected to the carb. Would it be wise to connect both to the carb?

Re: Automatic dimming head lights
Update :) I fitted a temporary voltage gauge and made a test drive. [frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1429037511_22272 [/frame] Immediately after starting it went thru the roof, up to 19V. 5 seconds later to a steady 13.6 volt at cruising speed and 13.4 at idling. During the 10 minutes trip...

Re: Smiths temperature gauge
On my search for a proper sensor I bought a GTR104 (should have lower resistance, and better suited for my gauge). I did some cooking to measure the resistance of the old one (probably standard Mini) and the 104: [frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1428160057_22272 [/frame] Results:[frame] ht...

I'm not sure that one is coutersunk enough...it must be very close...and if there is a 'link' in the chain...... I prefer to make sure they are completely flush with the front plate... You are right. I had to buy a proper countersink drill to do a better job. Remember the one on the side of the fro...

Re: RPM gauge 12V on earth?
Theo, 50 mph speedo = 46 mph true = 2,800 rpm in 4th gear with the standard 4.22 rear axle ratio and 145/80x14 tyres. I have the same Smiths rev counter RV1 on negative earth and it worked fine with the Aldon Ignitor electronic ignition - the induction loop has to be the right way round for the pol...
