Hi Phil, thanks for your comments, here is the release bearing that was installed release bearing.jpg this is the backside of the bearing thrust plate. when i read your post, i thought immediately if you plan a full respray and you don't like rose taube, old english white could be a good alternative. The interior with this would be red as yours.

if you want to fit a ribbed case to an original 948 engine, you must change engine backplate, flywheel, clutch.
the ribbed case gearbox should be with clutch lever and gear lever, because the ones from the smooth case gearbox do not fit.
I did this change on my 61 saloon with 948 engine

here you can see the left one already replaced, the right one cut. As you can see, the car was placed on a hydraulic lift. In the front placed under the a-post, in the back at the front spring hanger

I did not do the repair myself, but had the chance to take a look during the repair
