Re: Electrolytic rust removal

Using washing soda has the added benefit of removing the paint as well, it is very effective, and you are not converting the rust, but removing it entirely to bare metal.

Re: beware: E10 petrol can damage cellulose paint

Normal petrol will take off cellulose paint that isn't fully cured, so not sure we can quite blame this on E10.

Re: 1957 Traveller jacking points

If in good nick they are fine to use for what you want.

If you want to jack up somewhere else you need to use a different jack -trolley most likely. Then you can jack up under the eyebolt at the front, or under the diff pumpkin/under the spring plates at the rear.

Re: How Does MOT Exemption Work?

When you tax it online you 'sign' a declaration that it is exempt.

You can get an MOT test on it as many times as you like, but perhaps may just be better to ask the garage to give it a thorough going over?

The laws from the EU are still here.

As for the CO2 figures, sounds low, so I would go for it.

If it is more than 25 years ago, there is no IVA requirement, but do check, don't just listen some bloke off the Internet.

Re: Compression

Yep, that last bit is true in that it can happen, but nonsense as far as it being a problem!

If the bores are that worn, it is just someone making excuses for not repairing the engine properly...

Re: Overdrive -- is it possible?

Marina/ ital box internals in a triumph housing with overdrive attached, engine backplate as per marina gearbox conversion and it all bolts up and works.

Triumph gears are all the wrong spacing for the minor, hence the case swap.

If it leaks that overnight, quite possible it is not the crank seal -it is quite a lot...

Think I managed about 100 miles today, all quite normal when using it daily ;)

Flattened the seats to get a new bike for my son in, and cruised gently back across the amazing Somerset scenery to the golden light of the final hour....

Unread posts:

search.php?search_id=unreadposts

Which I find most useful, if you haven't read any new comments it lists it.

New posts:

search.php?search_id=newposts

Not actually sure what this means, but might be what you want.
