Re: juddering in London
Quite a list of problems there - not all connected. If the pump ticks all the time then the carb float valve is sticking open..(or perhaps there is an air leak on the inlet side) Clean the points in the fuel pump. Run a flow test into a bottle to see what it can do. Was the head retorqued (44 ft lb...

Re: juddering in London
1. Sometimes the ticking doesn't stop when turning on the ignition. Can you just clarify that. With the ignition OFF the pump should NOT be ticking. When you turn the ignition ON then the pump normally ticks for a little while and then stops until after you have started the engine. You seem to expe...

Re: juddering in London
Hi all. We are still having problems. So far we have had a new head gasket, newish points and new condenser. We are hoping to get new high tension leads and a new distributer cap on Weds. We think we may need a new fuel pump for the following reasons: 1. Sometimes the ticking doesn't stop when turni...

Re: juddering in London
Thanks to all ... especially Mike who, despite the rain, did some very impressive diagnostic tests - all from the back of his Minor! Plan to follow up in next couple of days. Diagnosis: head gasket. Advised to keep current engine!!!! Will keep you posted.

juddering in London
Hi. Is there anybody in the London area that can offer any assistance. Car is juddering and changing sparks has not made a difference. Garages trying to upsell new engine/head gasket and I am not convinced. Don't want to start changing everything. May be timing or some problem with distributer. Any ...

Re: Power for inverter
Laughing our socks off ... clearly health and safety rules do not apply to MMOC Members ... old school. Personally we prefer our food minus coal and exhaust fumes although we do have a shovel so there may still be hope for us yet! Veggie power want around a grand for a vegetable generator which actu...

Re: bouncing rear wheel
Yes, being ripped off for unnecessary work is something we have learnt the hard way! Being ripped off for bad/dangerous work is even worse. Note we have contacted the Leicester branch who were very helpful but only able to make a personal recommendation ... outside of the county! Thank you all very ...

bouncing rear wheel
Hi. Can anyone please advise? We have so far been to 3 garages! The 1st talked us into replacing all 4 wheel bearings (which he later said were probably ok and only needed greasing). We left the car with him and upon later inspection it appears as though he came across some difficulty. The front nea...

Re: Power for inverter
Thank you bmcecosse for your many suggestions. We are not feeling the wave box ... our food likes a window when it's cooking and a surprisingly breakable turntable. Lol. We are investigating leisure batteries and veggie oil generators. Will keep all MM eco warriors posted. However, still open to oth...

Re: Power for inverter
Hi. Many thanks for responding ... and so quickly. We are trying to avoid gas for health reasons. We are car users but with little knowledge of even what rpm actually means ... even Google answers are beyond our understanding. How does one acquire such revolutions? Alternatively, we have considered ...

Power for inverter
Hello all. We are new here, please forgive us if a similar question has been asked, we are mobile users so it is somewhat difficult to navigate the site. We have a 4 door saloon (1963) which currently uses a Dynamo. We are looking to power a single induction hob and/or compact microwave from the bat...
