Re: Dealer Badges / Stickers

Hi, I'd be very interested if you find a sticker for King and Harper Cambridge too - my car came from there too :D
If I find anything I'll let you know too.

Re: Traveller wood

I treated mine with wood preserver including the drainage holes. I then used Osmo oil. It has built-in UV protection and allows the wood to breathe. Water does 'bead' on it too :D

Re: traveller improvements

Hello,
Not meaning to disrupt this thread but where can you buy the rubber seals for the wind-up windows please?
There is also mention that they can be fitted with window etc. in situ?
Many kind thanks - and a Happy New Year

Re: Short Wife!

I can vouch for the rubber blocks minijojo refers to. I've got an original pair (?) - they allow 4 different height adjustments.
Perfect :D I'm 5'5" and I also have one of those aluminium extenders fitted to my clutch pedal (Paddy Hopkirk)

Re: Steering wheel - help please

I think I'll give the contact cleaner a try - it certainly seems to make sense with the 'sweet spot' I've found. I certainly did keep the nut on when I was attempting removal (turned on a couple of turns) I'd read about 'incidents' of almost concussion. I'm not too sure how limber I am to brace my l...

Re: Steering wheel - help please

I've played and now know when indicator left will work. I'm just going to use it as is - it's a little 'feature' - she's an old car and allowed them  Many kind thanks for the helpful advice which I shall refer to if I have to remove the steering wheel down the road - hopefully no time soon Kin...

Re: Steering wheel - help please

I believe I do need to remove the steering wheel as I'm trying to get to the indicator mechanism. My left hand indicators do come on but the indicators talk has to be in certain position for it to engage and work. No such problem with the right hand indicator. Undoing the indicator cover does not ap...

Re: Steering wheel - help please

Ha ha Mike  I have tried sweet talking and a few expletives too - reckon the latter made me feel a bit better  I am confident - ok, desperately hopeful - that when I get the puller to fit all should be well. Rather pleased with my smaller socket blu-tacked to the lightly screwed nut and a...

Re: Steering wheel - help please

I've had an idea which I think will work - offered up the freshly acquired 3 legged puller - too short. Have to return it tomorrow and get the bigger one whilst ensuring that the little feet will be the same size otherwise they won't fit. Hey ho, I'll see what tomorrow brings .... Lots of cups of te...

Re: Steering wheel - help please

My dribbling oil seems to have had zero impact.
So, 3 leg puller - they seem to have a centre point which is what the 3 legs 'pull' against?
The centre is the little spring thing for my horn - do I have to have something that covers it but also sits on the nut?
Appreciate suggestions - many thanks

Re: Steering wheel - help please

I have dropped oil onto the visible splines - hopefully soaking through nicely :D Block of timber - where should this be placed please? And then a smart whack with a heavier hammer on the wood? I'm mindful of the the wheel - the banjo style - which already has a couple of cracks where the wires meet...

My neighbour and I will tackle again - when the drizzle stops.
So close and yet so far ;-)
It probably hasn't been removed in many years ;-)

Steering wheel - help please

Hello everyone, I have read a lot of posts re: steering wheel removal. My neighbour has managed to remove the nut using a large socket - no hammer and chisel ;-) We have replaced it a couple of turns in case the steering wheel comes off suddenly. Steering wheel won't budge. We have hit it from below...

Re: It passed -phewwwww !!

Well done :D
MOTs are nerve racking. Mine passed a few weeks ago - no advisories - thanks to an excellent mechanic as it had been SORNd for sometime but didn't need anything major doing. Next year it will be down to me - yikes!!

Re: Traveller Wood

I am going to be stripping and treating my Traveller wood too. Approximately how much Osmo 410 oil might I need please?
I've got plenty of Cuprionol 5 star.
Cheers

Re: Advice please - locking fuel cap

Ah, many thanks.
As you can see, it looks like the screws are very visible when the cap is in place so, even though it fits my car clearly it must be for a somewhat more recessed filler neck.
Many thanks again.
