The 1275 does not have chest plates on the block and the head is 12g940,it has a square finish by the thermostat.

A HIF44 is better suited to the 1275.. Getting hard to find now. My 1275 runs well with a 44.

I have an Austin steering wheel,it is about 1"smaller than standard Minor but does not have horn push facility and has AUSTIN on the centre bar.I think ther is a classic mini wheel on fleabay at the moment.. Have you considered moving the drivers seat backwards to give a better seating position...

My late grandfathers name was Maurice Austin,he did his apprenticeship with Wolesley! I am not 100 percent sure,but i have been told that when he worked for GKN,he had some sort of working relationship with Issigoniss.

Have an assistant apply the foot brake while you test for play,if there is play with the brake applied the problem is with the suspension/steering components.

I ordered some engine degreasent on line,just had delivery,only to find it is traffic film remover,Why o why cant do their job properly?All the too and frow emails and usual fob offs ahead now i suppose.

Like i said in my first reply,clean with a decent cleaner (acetone or similar) and a nice rub with baby oil...cheap as chips and fab results.Sorted for less than £2.00 If it is really bad resort to dye.

I used Nero d'inferno permanent staining ink,250ml,they do 10 different colours.flea bay.about £8.50

Or you could use a leather dye to change the colour,i changed a rear seat from red to black,as i could not find a black back seat.only cost £8 ish looks fab and wears well,gave it a good clean first with acetone and a rub with leather dubbing afterwards.

Do the unions up tight,check and check again,air can be pulled in,even if fluid is not leaking out,worth having a look at the wheel cylinders too.
