More info? What were the compressions when you tested it? But, go ahead snd remove the head if you must - but I fail to understand exactly what you expect to find (that you can not diagnose with the head on). Off the top of my head I can not remember the compression readings as it was many moons ag...

I have a missfire on cylinder 2. The compression is good.The cylinder head is a reconditioned on by Minisport. There is a spark to cylinder 2.Tested by lifting the lead and looking for a spark. I have swapped leads round and plugs round to eliminate either of those. Bought some new points/condense/r...

Thanks all for the replys

The engine is out of the car and on my bench. The some shells do have slight scoring you can feel them with your nails but they are only slight.
May be an idea as suggested to contact a local branch. I live in Burnley Lancashire and there is a branch in Accrington

I have part stripped the engine to inspect. I think that you have proberbly worked out the issue. i bet that its the cable. I would order the outer cable as i suspect you just got a new inner :D
P.S make sure that you have routed the cable correctly to ensure a snag free cable

Thanks very much for the reply as ussual Phill. Is there any advantage in using a HIF carb. I do realise that it would require the correct needle and i would have to sort the manifolds to suite but is it worth it. Thanks to everyone the job is now done. The transfer pipe did need a slight bending. I made sure that i could finger tighten the connections before i got the spanner on. On first fire up I had a horrible squealing noise "big panic" turned out it was the dynamo bearings lol. I slackened the...

When I offered up the new filter housing to the block there was a gap at the top of housing. Ive taken it back now and got a refund.Thanks Phill for your efforts but Im sure that the block on mine has a larger transfer hole
