I fill up all 4 cars only at Sainsburys or esso. I like collecting the nector points you see. its pays for our chrimbo dinner at the end of the year. For the same reason, I invariably fill up at Sainsburys. Regular unleaded in my every day car (a Ford Focus ecoboost). When I had my Minor I initiall...

Re: Best radio aerial type? Electronic any good?

Don't know how accurate my comment will be, but... Wanted to upgrade the AM/FM radio/CD in my modern-ish Suzuki last year. Looked at a FM/DAB radio/CD unit. Both Halfords and an audio specialist told me they could fit a DAB antenna on the inside of the windscreen, but I'd still need to keep the exis...

Re: PM messages not leaving the Outbox

Not good news then as the ones I sent to Pulmby74 in April, LouseM in May and Cam in July haven't been read. The April one can explain why I haven't heard about an offer of parts from Oz. :( Just checked. LouiseM hasn't logged onto the forum/message system since December 2018. Cam was last on-line ...

Re: Morris making a comeback

Saw this the other day. They've obtained the rights to use the Morris Commercial brand name.

Don't hold your breath though. The first of the electric J Type vans was supposed to hit the streets two years ago. They're still not in production.

Just a thought as I have no idea how they handle new/young driver insurance but... LV (a.k.a Liverpool Victoria) Insurance. I sold my Minor, insured with FJ, last month. Incidentally, I'm STILL waiting the partial premium refund due following cancellation. Instead of the Minor, I have a Marina 1.8TC...

Anyone else notice chemists having "problems" with medicine suppliers? My latest prescription was of a cheaper brand. My prescription runs to eight different items. Five are tablets for which I get a 56-day supply of each. Three are eye drops. They have a short shelf-life and I only get a...

Re: Morris auction

Two possibilities. First and most likely, a deceased estate sale where contents of house, garage, sheds (hen houses too) all being disposed of as easily as possible by the executors in order to liquidate funds for legatees. Second and less likely, single item disposal, again quickly and hassle-free,...

' I hope you will still come to MMOC events, it is a Morris after all. For everyday use though, when the Polo gives up, I've often considered an Austin Maxi to be a sound choice. Often derided when in 1500 format but what do you think? Best wishes, Mike. As you say, the Marina is 'family'. I'll sti...

Because of the negative hype over this car, people are reluctant to say otherwise, fearing ridicule. Having owned a couple, I defend it. The estate version is particularly striking, stylish in fact.F7632663-A6AA-4F40-81DA-657B9096B424.jpeg 'Don't knock it until you've tried it' as the saying goes. ...

Would it be a B or O series engine?
It's a Mk.2 so 1800 B-Series. The 1700 O-series appeared during 1978 when the Mk.3 was launched (the one with bigger bumpers that housed built-in front indicators).

That's a very tidy Marina. Quite a high spec as well. One of my colleagues had a "Marina Special" in that colour as a company car. Jade Green is it? It is Jade Green although in photographs it looks like the slightly darker and later (1978) Tara Green. 'Jade Green' and 'Tara Green' ... so...

I have one too, and (whisper it) I prefer driving it to my Minors!
Auto was the prime deciding factor for me. I'm developing arthritis which is starting to make a clutch pedal something of a challenge.

You have one as well....? Which one...?

The deed is done... but not a Dolomite. Instead, as of yesterday I became the proud (yes - I know its subjective) owner of a Mk.2 Marina 1800HL automatic. It's apparently done only 28,000 miles and is one of only three 1800HL autos still on the road. It came with loads of history. Old MOT certificat...

1960's MG Magnette 1622cc (or Riley equivalent) with Borg-Warner Auto was a nice relaxing motorway cruiser with upmarket interior. Or get the Oxford/Cambridge version if you feel like slumming it ! On my list too. May get lucky finding an automatic. Went after, but ultimately got cold feet over, a '76 Marina HL automatic with genuine 22,000 miles on the clock... then found out there's fewer than 30 Marina autos still on the road 🙁

A new home for Max the Minor

With increasing mobility issues, I've been driving 'Max' my Series 2 saloon less and less, finding an automatic easier and more comfortable. After careful thought I decided to sell Max. I took him to a local charity car show on bank holiday Monday and put a 'for sale' notice in his windscreen. Much ...
