Hi Taupe, thanks for your answer and the pictures. I'm going to start on it this afternoon after waiting a few days for answers.

Re: replacing traveller sills
I have got the traveller dismantled (all wood and rear roof removed ) and when I look through the holes in the boxing plate all I can see is a mass of rust with the seat belt mounting just about disintegrated. I didn't know about the strengthening panel until online research reveled it to me (ESM on...

Re: replacing traveller sills
Hi Kevin, thanks for the reply. It is not the boxing plate that worries me, its the extra strengthening piece that goes behind it which is dead straight. I'm not sure where to fit it exactly.

replacing traveller sills
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me. I am having to replace most of the o/s sill on my 1966 traveller, having discovered the outer floor, sill and jacking point to be held on with pop rivets then carefully painted with liquid rubber. I have discovered in my research that the traveller has an extra st...

tyres 2
Hi, after much research I have ordered some new tyres, Continental 155 x 70 x 14 77T which come in at £189.48 for four tyres delivered to my house and I will then get my local garage to fit them. I could have got cheaper tyres but I wanted a recognisable name. The aspect ratio is slightly smaller th...

Re: tyres
Hello Simmitc, thanks for the reply. I have looked at the sidewalls of my tyres and they have a box that reads 2896 0916 on two and 2896 1016 on the other two. I assume this means two made in the ninth week and two made in the tenth week of 2016. I will go and see what the tyre dealer has to say, bu...

tyres
Hello there, in July 2016 I had four new tyres fitted at the local tyre dealers. He could not get 145s so I had 155s fitted. The tyres are Nankang 155 x 80 x R14 81T and up to today I was quite happy with them. Today I removed the wheels to adjust the brakes and noticed that the tyres are beginning ...

Re: tickover
Thanks for the replies chaps. The timing and mixture have been checked, also dash pot oil level. There are a few suggestions in your replies that I haven't thought of, so when the workshop ( ie outside ) warms up I'll give them a go. Thanks very much and I'll report back when the problem is solved o...

tickover
Hi, I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this problem. The car is a 1969 4 door saloon with 1098cc engine. When I take the car for a run, after the engine has warmed up and the choke is dispensed with, when I come to a junction or traffic lights, the engine stalls. Increase the tick over speed I...

Re: windscreen fitting
In reply to Declan asking me where I got the new windscreen seal, I got it and the chrome trim from Charles Ware in Bristol. The previous new seal that I tried to fit came from Bull Motif but this was the one that the chrome trim kept coming out.I hope that info helps someonelse.

Re: windscreen fitting
Update: I had a few weeks rest from the Morris but this last Sunday I had my son to help me, and we fitted another new screen rubber and chrome strip. It took us about 2 1/2 hours and result, not leaking! I had tried to do it on my own but it was defiantly a two man job. I'm glad that thats been don...

Re: windscreen fitting
I've tried Capt. Tolley before (re 'copious amounts of sealer') without very good results but I've got nothing to loose so I'll give it another go.

Re: windscreen fitting
Update on progress so far. My son came and helped me on Sunday. We struggled for about three and a half hours trying to fit the chrome strip but to no avail. The strip would go in and we would work our way further forward and find that about a foot behind where we were working, the strip was coming ...

Re: windscreen fitting
Thanks again for the replies and advice. Unfortunately I don't have access to a garage heated or otherwise. I have persuaded my son to come and help me on Sunday, so hopefully 2 of us swearing at it will do the trick. Will report back next week.

Re: windscreen fitting
Thanks Les, I have watched the videos and see that I should be using a rubber lubricant so I went and bought some this morning. I can see the technique involved and obviously a 7 year apprenticeship is required. I managed to get the first inch in using the tool but as I went further on the first inc...

Re: windscreen fitting
Thanks for the replies chaps. I have already purchased 2 special tools (1 from Charles Ware and 1 from Machine Mart) I managed to start getting the trim in with the Machine Mart tool (couldn’t do anything with the Charles Ware tool) but neither of them came with any instructions and I can't find any...

windscreen fitting
Hi, I hope someone can help me. I am trying to fit the plastic chrome strip around the wind screen on my 69 4 door saloon. The new rubber and chrome strip came from Bull Motif. I have been trying for about a week now, about an hour a day and so far I have managed to get about 6 inches in place. Ther...
