Re: Mot

I contacted the DVSA a few weeks back as my MOT ran out in March and my tax isn't due until Feb, the woman I spoke to said that I will (of course) be unable to drive the car without an MOT before the 20th May but I can after that, without declaring my car as SORN or anything... Sorry to throw a span...

Re: Possible Pinking at Idle

That Wiki article was very informative, so thank you very much for that! Unfortunately I don't have a tachometer so gauging the revs is a bit of a challenge, but I'm hoping to borrow one soon. Hello again Paul! Yes, the needle and jet are the same as the old ones :D Perhaps I am barking up the wrong...

Re: Possible Pinking at Idle

Thanks for clarifying, though I thought the vacuum advance is an economy device for when the car is idling? The car drove alright, but seemed somewhat sluggish, and got up to temperature alarmingly fast and then "bounce" between nearly 100C and 80C a fair bit, which I put down to ig...

Possible Pinking at Idle

Hi All So, after a fellow member on here very kindly sent me a secondhand carb after the small pipe that the vac advance pipe connects to somehow snapped off (thanks again!), I have now discovered that, although the vac advance is working, and I can feel suction from the pipe, it isn't enough to eng...

Re: Engine Vibration in every gear

Thanks a lot for all of the great suggestions guys, I’ll begin giving these a go as soon as I have sorted my vacuum advance, which I have opened another thread for!

Vacuum advance pipe attachment broken!

Hi All I’m afraid that my vacuum advance pipe had seen better days so I decided to replace it (it was split mad thus not creating a vacuum!) however, when going to take it off the end by the carb/manifold, the small tube it slots into came with it  Is there anything I can do about sorting this?...

Engine Vibration in every gear

Hi All I am having some issues with my poor Trav- there appears to be a very loud vibration which shakes the whole car and is at different speeds in different gears (it is in every gear) so is presumably rev dependant. You can "drive though" the vibration, but it feels pretty risky doing s...

Electronic ignition woes!

Hi All I have fitted an AccuSpark Electronic ignition module, and am having some issues with the timing. When the static timing is at 3 degrees B.T.D.C.(per the marker on the pulley), the engine is incredibly lumpy, and is very difficult to start., it is also completely gutless, and simply dies. So ...

Re: Headlight Earth

Yep, I checked this and it's deifinitely not that. I know it's the earth becasue, when I fed a wire from the negative terminal to the negative wire on the headlight, they worked, on both dipped and full :)

I have ordered the brackets shown above and will let you know how I get on!

Re: Headlight Earth

Hmm then it looks as if a previous owner decided on some modifications (not uncommon, but certainly makes things interesting! Thanks all for your help, I'll take a look when I'm next out looking at the car. Quite relieved that I don't have to 'journey to the centre of the 'earth'.... I'll let myself...

Re: Headlight Earth

Thanks for the helpful advice!

I don't suppose you know where it would be earthed to the bodywork? As it is built into the loom I'm assuming there is one primary place?

Headlight Earth

Hi All! I am currenlty having an issue with my headlights whereby, if I connect the wire to earth that is on the loom, and although a continuity test confirms it does indeed go to earth, the light does not come on. But if I hook up the headlight straight form the negative terminal of the battery, it...

Re: We've done this before but....

I'm a 21 year old final year student at university in sunny(!) Bournemouth, and, unfortunately, my beloved- and very tatty- traveller is in my hometown of Luton 120 miles away. I purchased it on my placement year (July 2016) and spent every evening after work working on it, I greatly miss working on...

Bumper to wing screws?

So I've gotten two new front wings and a bumper for my traveller, the wings have one hole each where the bumper lines up, is this for the bolts? The reason I ask is because my previous bumper had two holes to place a bolt through, but my new bumper does not have the holes for this. Do I need to dril...

Door alignment distress!

Hi all! So my passenger door never closed properly (it never made the second 'proper' latch) so would often swing open if I went round a sharp righthand bend! But, when adjusting it, I cannot get it to line up, I can't even get it back to where it was- it's now sitting far too low! I tried adjusting...

Re: Intermittent Vibration above 40 in Fourth...

Thank you all very much for your swift and helpful replies, I'll start with the engine steady as it's looking a little tired and see if that makes a difference. If there is no difference then I will investigate the propshaft UJ.

Stay tuned!

Re: Intermittent Vibration above 40 in Fourth...

I've given it a shake and it doesn't feel like there's any play.

I was also confused as I would have thought it would be there all the time!

What is the best way to check the UJ? As I doubt my shaking method is up to scratch!

Intermittent Vibration above 40 in Fourth...

Hi All Not sure if this has been covered before or not but I seem to have an intermittent vibration through, primarily, the gear stick (although I can feel/hear it throughout the car) at above 45 mph. It does not happen every time and, when it does, if I put it into neutral and then back into fourth...

History of my Traveller- GTL 619E

Hi All, I was wondering if anybody knew the history of my Rose Taupe Traveller- GTL 619E. I'm going to get a heritage certificate and contact the DVLA, but I thought I'd ask here first!
