Re: MMOC National Rally 2017

I made it there too yesterday. Slight 'splutter' from Eric after the Dartford crossing on Friday but after that he ran really well with no other problems (around 160 miles driven over the 2 days) :P The bar is in the main marquee - left hand side. It didn't look like it was open when I went there ye...

Re: Sheared shackle plates beware!!

I just cannot believe the above comments in that the inference is that the parts are faulty and members should be made aware of the manufactures name - all without being aware of the full facts. The parts in question may not be of faulty manufacture.Even companies are innocent until proven guilty. ...

Re: What’s happening at the National Rally?

The details/timings will be in the programme which is issued when you check in on site so I don't know specifics. From what has been printed in Minor Matters there will be traders both days, members autojumble on Saturday, judging/prize giving on Sunday, AGM on Saturday (2pm), bar & catering ava...

Re: MMOC National Rally 2017

I don't know what's on the programme but usually the same arena activities are on both days, although the judging/trophy awarding is on the Sunday. The AGM is on the Saturday and usually the traders attend both days as most travel some distance to get there. If you like to have a rummage in the auto...

Re: Sheared shackle plates beware!!

I think we need to know who the supplier is so that this can be more widely promulgated. Notwithstanding the dementor's usual policy of deleting anything that remotely criticises suppliers / traders, this is a real safety issue. It isn't the 'dementors policy' as you put it, it's a club one. These ...

Re: Weller rims - hubcap problem!

Just wondered whether you bought the wheels that were recently sold on ebay which have Minor hub caps fitted? (yours are the same colour and have the same tyres) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MORRIS-MINOR-WIDE-STEEL-WHEELS-BY-WELLER-hot-rod-custom-retro-car-/232338952079?hash=item36187b0f8f%3Ag%3A%7ElMA...

I'd give it a couple of days to see if they arrive as they are often posted out in batches. If they still haven't shown up contact: christine.haigh (at) mmoc.org.uk or the club office: info (at) mmoc.org.uk

Re: National Rally route - avoiding M25

I'm right at the bottom of the M11 (east London) and don't fancy traveling round the M25 either but it's difficult to avoid it without going miles out of my way. I'll probably go via Blackwall tunnel/A2 which is a couple of miles longer than going A13/M25 but avoids the Dartford crossing queues and ...

Roy was definitely referring to the product (not the Minor with the same name). It's approved by the vegetarian society - maybe you are confusing it with Bovril which has beef extract? :D

Stopping the shakes

Just spotted this interesting article about a twin cam split screen traveller and how a vibration problem was solved. Fascinating to see the amount of work that has gone into it, including designing a damper for the rear view mirror to balance out the vibration from the exhaust :o https://www.hemmin...

Re: MMOC Van & Pickup Register

I used the term 'like marmite' as it is one that Roy used here, and he loved marmite. Sorry if you feel that me looking at Roy in an affectionate way, using a phrase that he used himself, is disgraceful. As for an award, it's not a case of 'being prompted'. You posted on 8th May to ask "is ther...

Re: MMOC Van & Pickup Register

Roy was a bit like marmite - some loved his comments and others stayed away from the messageboard because of them - and he was the first to admit (and later apologise for) the fact that some of his comments had rubbed people up the wrong way. One thing he never did though was make personal / rude co...

Re: MMOC Van & Pickup Register

The trouble on this forum is nobody of any authority can make any decisions or answer any important questions directly . The webmaster Cam is the direct link between the messageboard and the committee - he's a committee member. However he can't be expected to read every post here so the best way to...

Re: MMOC Van & Pickup Register

I may be wholly wrong, but is this not the reason for the setting up of alternative fora? It was set up by members /moderators from here during a period of down time here. For info, the members area here was set up so that members can raise the types of issues you refer to, outside of the open foru...

Re: MMOC Van & Pickup Register

As Lee says, a MMOC van & pickup register should have been set up years ago, must have explained the cab numbering system to the LCV Club at least 20 times....and yet they STILL cannot get to grips with it.... There was previously a club Series 2 LCV Register, which was run for many years. And ...

Re: won't start - now intermittent loss of power

For those who haven't already read this lengthy thread (or can't be bothered!) there's an intermittent problem which has been causing my traveller (Eric) to cut out. Sometimes it occurred during a short drive, other times I could drive for miles without a problem, so it has been really difficult to ...

Re: MMOC Van & Pickup Register

What are you basing that comment on Irmscher? I just did a quick Google search on membership fees for a variety of British classic car clubs and the MMOC fees were cheaper than most eg MG £47, Morris Register £34.50, P6 Rover £30, Austin A30 £30. Yes, there will be some cheaper club membership fees ...

Re: MMOC Van & Pickup Register

Hi Chris, It's not clear from your post whether you've been in touch with the Club about this yet, but if you are proposing to start a new 'MMOC register' please contact the Club first before setting anything up. No problem with you (as a non-Club member) setting something up yourself and asking for...
