It was definitely the oil filter light which was connected to the temp sender. It stays off now.
Anyone got any ideas why the brand new cable-operated heater valve I bought from DSN Classics doesn't seem to work?

Ah! This sounds like it makes sense. My Moggie has had a reconditioned engine, and has had the spin-on oil filter mod. There is also a temperature sender plug just below the thermostat housing which has a wire attached, so this is probably what's happened. I've had several cars in the past with A or...

It's definitely not the oil light, as that is the orange one on the the right, above the red ignition light and comes on just before I start the engine and goes off a second or so after the engine has started, just as it should. The light I assume to be a temperature warning light slowly comes up fr...

I have a '68 Minor 1000, and as I've only owned it for 5 months (my first moggie!) I don't know whether it's normal or not; the orange warning light on the left of the speedometer comes on after the engine has been running for about ten minutes. This only started in late Spring, when the weather sta...

RE: engine number
Could be. It's definitely not the original engine as it was a reconditioned unit judging by the fresh green paint and general very good condition of it. It does have the 1100 tag on it as well. Another thing; it has a spin-on oil filter, which could have been added, or maybe was there already. In wh...

RE: engine number
Re: my Mystery Engine (RKM 1121E 98586) I've also noticed, whilst trying to use a strobe for adjusting the timing, that the timing marks in my engine are attached BELOW the crank pulley, and therefore impossible to see because the front crossmember is in the way. All other A-Series engines I have se...

Mine too!
I have a 'mystery' engine too; RKM 1121E 98586. Looks like a reconditioned one to me.

Still haven't had a chance to check the UJs, but I've now checked everything on the front, and it's definitely the steering rack that's faulty. I also uncovered another horror; the nearside lower suspension arm was cracked! Fortunately, and thanks to Bryan Gostling, I was able to go and pick one up ...

Dodgy diff.?
I have a 1968 4-door saloon. When I partially take my foot off the accelerator whilst going along, so that the car is on the cusp of slowing down, there is a kind of clunky rattle from the rear of the car (I think), which stops if I accelerate again. Is it likely to be the differential, or the unive...
