Re: Tyre advice needed
Thanks guys. These are van rims - or at least the same size. I'm looking to optimise grip rather than appearance or simply having something that is ok. At the moment I have front discs, a front arb and vertical shocks all round. The limiting factor on handling (without spending an arm and a leg on f...

Tyre advice needed
Okay, I'm getting some 4 1/2 Js for Jodie to replace the original 3 1/2s.
Should I go for 155s or 165s?
What do you think guys?

Can't fault Charles Ware if you want an honest and original looking restoration.
JLH if you want something fast and sporty.
But you'll need deep pockets.

Re: Spotted today.
A tidy traveller at the Great Central Railway (Loughborough) on 17/6/17. It was parked between the station and the engine shed and attracted quite a few looks as people walked past. It was a decent car in a fairly rare late shade of blue when I sold it in late 2015. I believe it was later sold by C...

Wow that is an amazing engine compartment.
Nice job!
What's the letter S on the left bulkhead by the way?
I'm guessing it's factory as you have the rest so original.

Re: Spotted today.
VERY unusual sighting. Saudi Arabia. Jeddah to Yanbu road, heading south. White four-door 1000 on a trailer. Opposite carriageway, so no time for a close look or picture. Saudi plate. Only the second mog I've seen in Saudi in 40 years. The last was a green traveller in 1978. A few about in Dubai, wh...

Re: 6v car
It looks as if a 6v battery is your only solution.
You can get step-down gadgets to convert 12v dc to 6v dc, but they are low current and would not handle a starter motor. You also have the problem of charging it.
Have you tried local motorcycle and tuktuk suppliers? Some of them use 6v batteries.

Running 30 on all corners with radials.
Seems to be ok with even tread wear.

Re: 1957 Steering wheel boss
It would be interesting to know the science behind this. My guess is that the air in the cracks is replaced by the oil, and because the oil has a similar coefficient of optical refraction to the resin, the cracks can't be seen. Alternatively, perhaps the oil is dissolving the resin slightly, or caus...

Looks very nice indeed. Maybe just a slightly large gap at the front of the bonnet.
If it's the same quality underneath, and if I had the money, I'd certainly go for it.

Re: Front indicators and front side lights..
Just for your info, we have a gadget we use at work when we are blowing a lot of fuses and can't quickly find the cause. It's just a breaker switch on a bit of wood with a couple of flying leads terminated with croc clips. It clips across the fuse holder and it's just a quick reset when it 'blows', ...

Re: Engine won't run
Going back to the old petrol-spark-compression mantra, how's the compression?
Plenty of oil circulation? It will all have followed gravity over the last ten months. If the oil pump is shot or not primed, you may have dry cylinders. Tried a bit of oil down the plug holes?

Is 'oil leak' a fault?
I thought it was a designed-in anticorrosion feature on the mog.
