Steering rack
Hi I’m preparing my steering rack before installing and have a few queries please: 1 In a video I saw online someone had put grease on the rack but I don’t think it is necessary. Am I right? 2 What is the best oil to use? 3 The manual says don’t overfill, no more than 10 strokes of an oil gun. I hav...

Re: Oil seals
IMG_0756.jpeg IMG_0757.jpeg Thank you Phil for your answer regarding the oil filter seal. Can I be a pain and ask for further reassurance regarding the cork seal. As shown in the photos the cork seal protrudes so much more than the original one and I’m afraid it will bend over rather than compress ...

IMG_0753.jpeg IMG_0751.jpeg IMG_0754.jpeg Help needed again please. The cork gaskets for the sump are wider than the ones taken off. I know I have to cut them to length but do I need to cut them to the correct width as well (surely not) or has the original one compressed with time (but they seem so...

Front suspension
IMG_0697.jpeg Hi Some help please. I’ve fitted the suspension on both sides and there is a large gap in the upper swivel pin link. According to the manual this should be 2 thou. I can’t tighten one end because the castle nut would go in too much for the split pin. The nut on the other end is alread...

Re: fitting gaskets
Thank you very much Phil.
The gaskets for the tappet cover that I got from ESM are actually cork (the other option from them was neoprene), so I assume I just grease those as well?

fitting gaskets
Hi I've removed various parts from the engine of my 1098 cc engine (1965) and after painting the block and am now in a position to put them back. I've bought new gaskets from ESM. The gaskets I've bought are: Inlet/exhaust manifold to head Water pump oil filter case to block tappet chest cover plate...

Covers on side of block
Re 1098 cc engine Some advice please. There are two covers on the side of the block. I can remove one of them but the other has a pipe going through it (I believe it may be a fume vent). I've removed the bracket holding the pipe to the side of the block and also removed the bolt holding the cover on...

Re: Torsion Bar
Hi With regard to re-installing the torsion bar the diagrams show 2 washers on the bolt that fix the lever arm and adjusting plate to the cross member. Both of them are numbered 80. One of them is between the adjusting plate and the lever arm but I'm not sure which side of the cross member the other...

Torsion Bar
IMG_1852.JPG The photo shows that I have re-fitted the torsion bar but I was a little concerned when I put the tie bar into position and realised it was out of line by about 4" if I mount it on the front and then try and attach it to the lower arm. I appreciate this may all change when everyth...
