Re: Engine rebuild
Haven't used them myself, but have heard good reports of Cotterell Engineering Ltd of Clay Cross, Chesterfield. They recently (December 22nd) had a reconditioned 1975 MGB 1800 engine for sale on their Facebook 'Cotterell Engineering Ltd' page with photos and a list of the reconditioning specificatio...

Re: Exhaust clamp
Standard WD40 is of little use for that particular application of undoing the clamp bolts. You need a good penetrating oil such as 'Plus-Gas' though I've also had great success with a product called 'Ambersil Rust Flash' - a rust loosener with freeze shock. Plus-Gas can be found on Amazon, ebay and ...

Re: Clutch lever return spring
Hi Phil, Here's a scan of the page - it certainly appears to show that the return spring was discontinued for both L/H and R/H cars at Engine No. 38423. I've no idea why that was. The only reason I mentioned the earlier three speed box photo in your ebay link was that although the return springs app...

Re: Clutch lever return spring
Hi Paul, I can confirm that the Series MM Parts List shows part number 29 (Clutch) Spring-Lever to be X15605 same as the Morris 8 Series E. However LHD Series MM cars were X15631. In the 'Remark' column it mentions that these lever springs ended at Engine Number 38423. Note that the gearbox shown in...

Paul, Here's an image of Section 18 'From The Frame Up' catalogue describing the items they can supply for the MG TC Driveshaft / Prop Shaft. The six figure part numbers in the far right hand column link to the same parts together with illustrations on Moss Motors site - link below. Note they can su...

Re: prop shaft/drive shaft
Paul, Here in the UK companies such as Bailey Morris will manufacture one-off brand new Hardy Spicer prop shafts for the likes of late 1930's Austin 7's and Morris 8's etc. The 1939 to 1948 Morris 8 Series E Hardy Spicer prop shafts are very similar in specification to Series MM Minor shafts though ...

Re: Differential repair parts
Thinking outside the box ........ The 1945 to 1950 Morris 8 Series Z Vans - a huge number of them operated by the Royal Mail and Post Office Telephones, used a very similar if not almost identical split rear axle to the Series MM Minor. The two differential bearings used in the 1945 to 1950 Series Z...

It appears to be a mid 1920's 747cc Austin 7 engine coupled to a mid 1920's Austin 7 gate change gearbox.

If you're not familiar with the internals of the SU Fuel Pump - for example the filter, an exploded diagram can be found on Burlen's website including a list of the many new parts available from them. The filter can be found at the base of the unit - hover your curser over the diagram to enlarge. ht...

Re: USHM3 Cylinder head bolts
I've been messing about with Morris 8hp engines - 1935 to 38 Morris Eight Series I and II, 1939 to 48 Series E and the Centurion Tank generator engines based on the Series MM Minor USHM3 block for almost 50 years. The head stud threads on all of them are M10 x 1.5mm pitch. As Rob Thomas says the ori...

I totally agree with Phil's comment. ESM can supply new piston ring sets from standard size through to +60 for the 918cc Side-Valve Series MM Minor.

Re: JJL857 - 1956 Series11 Split Screen
The registration JJL 857 would have been issued between February and June 1956 in the Holland district i.e. Spalding area of Lincolnshire. Apparently the original registration records between 1932 and 1972 still exist and are held by Lincolnshire Archives - link below: https://www.lincolnshire.gov.u...
