To convert to LHD you need a RHD MG Midget rack.
Swop over tie rods for Minor items and turn upside down for an orignal spec LHD Minor rack.

The Cortina axle, isn't that a few inches wider than the Escort one ( trouble with wheel selection ?) I think it might be as well. A neigbour used to race a MKII Escort superstock or whatever. What about an aftermarket steering wheel on a detachable boss ?
That way you could remove wheel and keep in the house , work or use a padlock and chain to secure it in the boot.
