Thanks Torton That looks like a much better way of fitting the visor (I must admit, I didn't like the idea of drilling holes in the water channel!). However, I think it's going to take a fair bit of sawing, shaping and bending in the shed with lots of trial and error! Is that ordinary mild steel? If...

Hi Tortron OK, here's a pic showing the end of the visor with the brackets, one removed to show how I chamfered the edge to improve clearance. What was it you 'persuaded' with the mallet? The bracket or the doorframe?! Any suggestions? Cheers PJ<br> http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1245173013_3416...

Thanks guys I guess you probably know better than most how the Aussie visors fit! However, I do have the original brackets yet when I've tried to fit the visor the brackets foul the door frame. I've tried grinding down the top 'hook' but it's still pretty tight (perhaps a half to one millimetre!) an...

Australian visor fitting
Does anyone have an Aussie external sunvisor on their car who could advise me on how it has been fitted? (It's the single-piece curved one, rather than the squarer Weathershield one.) The chrome clips to secure it to the rain channel are likely to foul the doors. Someone at my local branch mentioned...

Thanks guys. Thanks for your feedback and suggestions. Firstly, my apologies, it is indeed an HIF 44 carb! And in answer to your questions: The (I think) BAZ needle was fitted by the company that rebuilt the carb, I would guess to suit the new engine it was being fitted to. Because the engine used t...

Fuel vaporisation
Has anyone had problems with fuel vaporisation? At least I think that's the problem; my 1275-powered Mog gets grumpy in traffic with uneven revs, and sometimes cuts out. However, it will re-start, usually quite easily, and is absolutely fine on the open road (apart from occasional hesitation/cough w...

Insurance valuations
Can anybody recommend a company/individual who does valuations for agreed value insurance at a reasonable price?
Ideally within reasonable travelling distance of Maidenhead, Berkshire?
Many thanks

Oil's well
Does anyone have any recommendations for suitable engine oil for the A-Series? 20w/50 used to be the standard but it is now difficult to get and the next best alternative is 15w/50. Castrol does offer a (rather expensive) classic 20w/50 but this seems to be aimed at older classics, rather than the v...

Running problems using unleaded fuel
Has anyone experience running problems using unleaded fuel - other than valve seat recession? My 1275cc lightly tuned engine has an unleaded head but will splutter and die when the engine gets hot, especially in traffic and in hot weather. It will usually re-start after 10 minutes or so. A couple of...

Minor/Wolseley rear brake conversion
Does anybody know how to convert Wolsely rear brake backplates to accept Minor cylinders? The Wolseley 1500 employed a very similar sliding cylinder arrangement but the slot in the backplate is a slightly different shape. I had just this conversion on my old van many years ago, and seem to remember ...
