Jagnut66 AKA Mike is always active. Anyhow it is easy to view the photos by right clicking image icon, open in new tab, gives 404 error, edit the search bar to add board. between https// and mmoc (https//board.mmoc) press enter, magically reveals the image.. Below I’ve added all the right photos but...

Re: Timing Cover Leak

You’re at TDC on the exhaust stroke of piston number one, another complete rotation of the crank will line up the dots and put the number one piston at TDC compression stroke.

Re: Horn wiring - 1953 Series II

Yes it is a switched earth circuit, this is why I mentioned earlier about checking the actual steering column is providing a good earth before investigating further as the earth return is through the steering rack, the top bearing is made of felt so insulated and there is no other brush on the colum...

Re: Horn wiring - 1953 Series II

Just I thought, but as I understand it the earth return is via the steering rack, ie; there is no earth brush on the steering column, just the one that goes to the slip ring, item 14 above. It might be worth making a temporary earth on the steering column with a jump lead before investigating the sh...

Re: 1965 Four Door - sympathetic resto

I drilled the case (for the cell holder pins) and fitted a couple of PCB mount coin cell holders to my mask a few years ago and use the smaller and more popular CR2032 cells. It works fine with the smaller cells and changing them now is a doddle. My mask has a solar panel and the batteries originall...

Re: Radweld

I expect half a bottle would work. I don’t know if it would form a sludge, but I do understand your concern. I took the bottom tank off a radiator recently to resolder that had a copper coloured sealer in it and that had formed part of the sludge, a mixture of rust and sealer about 1/8th of an inch ...

Re: Radweld

Just a quick update. I put Radweld in the system for a few days. Then I drained the system and re-filled with water and antifreeze. The leak from the heater control valve seems to have stopped....for now. I’ve successfully used the blue bottle version of Radweld a few times for leaks I can’t find. ...

Re: Clutch problem...fade ?

Sounds normal, it’s most likely the gearbox warming up, what you can do when stationary is momentarily put it in to Second gear to stop the gears turning then select First.
If it still crunches then it needs further investigation.

Re: Trafficator switch

With your tester bulb, make sure you have the supply going to the terminal marked F, it is possible you have connected the supply to the L terminal, if so they just need swapping over.

I'm with Monty, if you can't open up the plastic clip/ratchet, cut them off. This might be a suitable replacement;- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200834552821?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201210111314%26meid%3D14d35b54cd6c48b2b9ac744c77894b39%26pid...

I would change the carburetor dash pot oil from 3in1 to 20W50 engine oil, may not be your issue but can cause hesitation from idle on some A-Series engines.

Re: Horn and indicators

I think you may have four terminals on your horn, that is two double connectors for the supply and two double connectors for the earth return via the horn push, it’s to make fitting a second horn easier. I think you have the supply and earth return on the same double connector on the horn, so when y...

It looks like GPO to me, perhaps the flitch panel was slightly different for the rubber wings.

Re: Self Cancelling Indicator Trigger

It could be that you have the flasher unit B and L wires reversed, they used to be marked X and L. It won’t do harm to reverse them. Assuming it isn’t an electronic version. B = Battery (ignition switch) Green wire L = Load (indicator switch) Green/Brown wire P = Pilot (tale tell) Light Green wire R...
