I'm back!
Hi all, I'm now back in the land of the living. having been in hospital since the beginning of May. Was clobbered by a totally unforseen stroke. Now unable to walk or drive a car, as no feel or power in left hand or leg. Unable to work on the newly acquired yellow convertible which is damned annoyin...

Fitting heater pipe under cylinder head nuts?
Hi folks, can it be done without disturbing the head gasket? I want to fit the heater pipe properly, but it has to go on two of the studs on the distributor side of the head. Will removing two of the nuts and quickly fitting the pipe in place be a cause for concern? Or should I fit a new gasket? The...

Re: coachline colour for highway yellow car.
Turns out not to be Highway yellow, but more GPO van yellow!
A blue coachline would still however look good in my opinion.[frame][/frame]

Re: I'm back!
Hi TFM
Yes, I agree, it does look close to GPO yellow. I'm collecting the car tomorrow, and there's the paint code included in the large file of documentation. I'll contact you in the next few days if that's ok, then I can report what the colour is.
Kind regards
Dom

Easy to carry a ladder, remove the rear seat back, rest the ladder on top of the windscreen. Simples!

coachline colour for highway yellow car.
Hi folks
The potteries database shows that Highway yellow cars had a blue coach-line. Any ideas as to what shade of blue was used?
I have a can of Record Tools blue (think G-clamps and planes etc) that I will use if it's near the correct colour.
Thanks

Re: I'm back!
Hi folks, thanks for the welcome! Indeed, one will just have to follow the yellow glow in the sky to find it in a car park! Not the original colour, which was, I'm given to understand, Almond green. I think this (or very similar) yellow was used in 61/62, Highway yellow I think it was called? Anyway...

I'm back!
Now that the MG is sold, I'm fulfilling a long-standing promise to my darling wife Lindsay that I'd get us a Morris MInor convertible - and here it is, collecting it next week. An original (rather than converted from a 2 door saloon) convertible from 1968. It has a 1972 plate because it was original...

Re: Converting a 2-door
Be very aware of any 'extras'..there have been some sad stories....... There's a wonderful book called "The Honeywood File" and it's sequel "The Honeywood Settlement" (H.B.Cresswell) - about the building of a house - with many examples of "extras" which cause unt...

Re: Converting a 2-door
Thanks Ian & Roy Good advice. I was frankly surprised by the assumption by "Bath" that the floors and sills might be strong enough... That lovely cathedral city in Kent convertible company have a nice example on their website right now... can anyone lend me £15k at 100% negative intere...

Converting a 2-door
Hi All I'm considering buying a 2 door Minor, with a view to converting it to a convertible at a later date as funds allow. I noticed that a "well known company in Bath" can do this job for about £2750. This assumes that the existing floor structure is strong enough. I thought that all con...

948 vs 1098?
Hi all Contemplating a 948cc Minor. My only concern is that it won't have enough puff on long journeys. We live in Lancs, but regularly travel to the Lakes, South of England and Cornwall. We had no problem on long journeys with our MG Midget, nor previous 1098cc Minors, tending to stick to the A roa...

Soon-to-be-returning member
Hi All After some consideration over the winter months, I have decided to take the plunge and sell my MG Midget, and to put the funds back into a Minor. I have thoroughly enjoyed the MG, so similar to the Morris in many ways mechanically. Joints seem to ache a bit more nowadays so am looking to buy ...

Re: ROSE TAUPE OR PEAT BROWN
Peat is a proper mid brown (left) Rose Taupe is more of a pastel colour with a hint of lavender in it (right). Personally, I like Rose Taupe a lot. Image (Images from Google, car on the left is probably a members) Yes, the one on the left (Peat Brown) was mine. I sold it to fund the purchase an MG ...

Re: Possible Purchase? Thoughts please...
Tilley, for insurance try RH Insurance. I found them way cheaper than Footman James, at £80 for the year (ok I'm an old f*rt at 58) when I had my Minor last year. The price remained the same when I swapped over to an MG Midget, then reduced to £70 upon renewal in June! (you also retain the salvage i...
