Re: New owner now the real work starts.
A bit more progress this weekend most of the rot cut out, cleaned up and zinc primed. The panels are now on order ready for final trimming prepping and welding next weekend. The boxing plate required a small repair to the front lower edge I thought of replacing it but decided a repair would be the b...

Re: advice needed from those in the know
The give away as regards the head is the alignment of the heater tap. Small bore engines have the heater tap aligned with the rear face of the head. Large bore engines (12A185 heads excepted) have the heater tap angled (approx. 60 degrees) to the rear face of the head. The heater tap fitted to the ...

Re: New owner now the real work starts.
I removed the left front wing yesterday and found what I was expecting the same as the right side more holes and rust waiting to be cut out and patched up.

Started to look at the other side, I removed the sill cover and door to be greeted with more rust and holes.
Time to get the wire wheel on the grinder out, I am sure there will be plenty more rust waiting to be found.

Re: New owner now the real work starts.
Got a bit more done yesterday painted the floor and inner wing green, weird how the camera makes the panels look like 3 different shades they are not. Then I started to refit the suspension so I can turn the car round to sort the other side out. Today I managed to get the car rolling again and out o...

Re: New owner now the real work starts.
The front cross member looked terrible all flaky rust which turned out to be just years of grime but underneath was the original green paint and some surface rust. It was more like archaeology than car restoration cleaning years of grime away to reveal the true colour of the engine bay and the body ...
