Re: Air bags
You don't suppose there'd be a way to fit air bags in a Minor? Those metal dashboards are a bit scary......... Yes you could fit airbags but you would need a huge development phase to get the deployment correct and the sensing sytem working. It would be interesting to see a crash test of a Mi...

Re: glass fibre doors?
Mighty Minor in Castleford was in the process of making complete front doors. I have a very early prototype set on my Minor but they took a lot of work to get up to a usable standard. One of the problems with them is that fibreglass is thicker than steel so you run into issues where parts fit on the...

Re: CARB FOR A FIAT TWINCAM
If you move your engine forward it should also be possible to position the engine slightly higher which will also help get an air filter in.
As Martin says getting the air filter in is the real hassle.

Re: slammed morris minor, give me your thoughts
We once gave a lot of thought and worked out exactly how to channel a Minor over the stock suspension. The idea was to lower the sill to the same height as the under side of the chassis rail. Then ground clearnce remains the same. We sussed out where to cut and it wasnt that difficult. This would th...

Re: wobble nuts/bolts
One way of modifying hubs when the PCD requires only a small change is to bore out the stud holes slightly larger then fit a top hat shaped plug. These are then redrilled to the correct PCD. For this to work you do need some clearance behind the hub for the extra thickness of the top hat plug. The d...

Re: what other hobbies do minor members have ????
My main interest now is rock climbing. It is a mixture of a mental and physical challange. I also like it because I decide what risks I take, I can decide just what I do without any rules or regulations (for example when car building there are now too many regulations and when driving too many rules...

Re: timing to fit with piper 296 cams
If you need to know the actual recommended timing then I would contact Piper. If you need to know how to do it then I learnt from books (soory cant remember which) but now the info will be on the `net. http://www.burtonpower.com/tuning-guides/tuning-guide-pages/camshaft-fitting-timing.html from a qu...

Re: Broken Exhaust Manifold Stud
It should be easy as you have a lot stuck out of the head. It is more of a challange when it breaks off flush. Heat will help a lot and I am sure that is why the "MIG weld a nut on" works so well because the stud is getting hot. I would try a stud extractor ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper...

Re: other people's headlights
I am sure most modern (ish) cars do have warnings of bulbs out. This is one of the reasons that you an not put in LED "bulbs" in place of normal bulbs without a resistor kit. The very latest cars tend to ue LED`s everywhere except the headlights (but that is coming.....). LED`s tend to las...

Re: other people's headlights
As far as I am aware there is NO maximum wattage for head light bulbs as described in the Construction and use Regulations, only a minimum which is 3OWatts. Wattage– (a) A motor vehicle with four or more wheels first used on or after 1st April 1986: No requirement (b) A three-wheeled motor vehicle, ...

Re: Retro Redesign of Morris Minor
The book by Jon Presnell has a chapter where he got various top car designers (Ian Callum was one of them) to sketch their idea of a new Minor.
Our very own Minor Matters also ran a competition to design a new Minor and the winner had their idea professionally drawn.

Go for a halogen conversion so at least you can see. Also check the condition of your windscreen. A scratched dirty screen will make things worse. However not all halogen kits are the same. The quality of the lense and reflector varies. When I messed with these sort of things Cibee were the ones to ...

Re: Custom & Modified Branch promotion ideas.....
A few years ago at the Classic Show at the NEC it was modified Minors. We also used to have a big turn out at the National rally. Once at Knebworth there were 20 or so well modified cars. Around that time the Custom register had quite a social scene brought together by the newsletter Show N Go poste...

A man walks into a bar with a monkey on his shoulder and orders a beer. The monkey hops off the mans shoulder and scurries down the bar to where the drinks are mixed. There he finds a tray with olives in it. The monkey eats them all. He then eats all the lemon wedges, then the cherries. After all of...

The rack can always be moved to the front (by swopping the uprights left to right and tweaking the arms to correct the ackerman) and the engine set back.

Just the rear will be easy to fit. It is a bit more awkward when you have to fit the front and connect them together though.

Re: 1275 Exhaust Design
Walker Dynomax do a very good range of silencers plus very importantly they quote flow figures so if you follow Vizard you can spec a silencer that will not impede flow. However availability in the Uk is not good. Jetex also do silencers. DAMPERS: Dampers work by passing oil through valves. The more...
