Re: Active Topics Link

The advertising aspect is a separate issue. John uses the advertising to finance the website and forums, whereas the MMOC is, as previously highlighted, trading as a Limited Company, with a healthy balance sheet. My sole point in highlighting the Forums of HSfB was to show that a highly effective Fo...

Re: Active Topics Link

Well something happened, the Active Topics link doesn't return any results now!! So I'm the Newbie around here, but I've been shocked to discover that the MMOC actually pays professionals to run/develop this site. I've seen far smoother operations run from home by individuals. As I've mentioned once...

Re: Active Topics Link

So 2 weeks have passed, I'm away from home using my phone instead of the computer and therefore it would be really useful if the Active Topics menus worked.
I'm getting 1 post listed, for the event next year!

Anyone care to comment?
Has this function always been useless? :-?

Re: New MOT exemption

I've just let my newly purchased '55 Moggie MOT expire, for several reasons, not least being that I wanted to see what would happen on the DVLA website. The 'Get vehicle information from DVLA' page automatically reverted to 'MOT Exempt' the following day, which is correct, but the 'Check MOT History...

Re: Help to temp meter

Sandun, A 1957 Minor could, as far as I know, have a plug in the cylinder head which can be replaced by a temperature sensor as shown in the photo. Be sure you get the right sensor to match the gauge http://www.morrisminorspares.com/electrical-c54/accessories-seat-belts-mirrors-etc-electrical-c65/w...

Hi Andrew As a new member of the MMOC and the Forums, I was reading the East Midlands Branch pages a few weeks ago and came across this entry.... http://www.eastmidlandsmmoc.co.uk/2016/11/classic-motor-show-nec.html It carries a Disclaimer... *Please note that this article is written from the person...

Re: Help to temp meter

You find an adaptor like this that will let you place it in the top hose. I'm sure you'll be able to find something locally. You just need to make sure it's the right diameter for the hose you are cutting. This one I have given a link to WILL NOT fit, but there will be a size that does. http://www.e...

Re: Battery Failure

Well it's been about 40 years since I learnt the theory, and not really used it since, so this will be a bit rusty, but basically.... The traditional Lead Acid car battery is a fickle thing, whose performance depends on a number of factors, including operating (ambient) temperature. There's lots of ...

Re: Had a good laugh at this today...

Yes, from this comment "an abject pile of scrap that my father decided to buy, with the intention of me spending 100's of hours on to make worth a fraction of what he paid for it. Needless to say I'm not clinically insane." you'd think that Dad would have known not to waste his time and mo...

Re: What was your first car?

My first car was a 1969 Mk1 Ford Escort. I brought it in '75 and it was already a wreck in terns of bodywork and other bits. Although only 6 years old, it had started life as an 1100 Cross Flow, but the previous owner had put an old 1500 engine from a Ford Cortina into it. I changed it for a 1300 Cr...

Re: Embarrasingly stupid question about alternator

Just one word of caution before relying on just a visual examination of the exterior appearance... They are pretty (actually to be honest, make that 'very') expensive, BUT, it is possible to get Alternators that have been made to look identical to Dynamos. if you search for 'Lucas C42 Dynalite', you...

Had a good laugh at this today...

It's not a Minor, but just happened to notice this ebay advert this morning, when it randomly came up on the other items at the bottom of the page.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Morris-1800-Landcrab/172866794183?hash=item283fa9f2c7%3Ag%3Ak9cAAOSwQG5Zu9zp A different approach to making a sale...?

Re: Obsessed? Moi ???

The eventual price charged to my debit card was within a nat's crotchet of the exchange rate on the day ordered. No problems with it at all. The debit on my account showed it in $can, the exchange rate and the amount in £ (and of course the greedy capitalist lackey of a bank's charges for doing les...

How did you get on with the exchange conversions using ebay Canada?
I've brought stuff from Amazon.com before and their prices were all upfront converted before you committed to the purchase.
How does it work with ebay from an overseas site?

Re: Obsessed? Moi ???

I saw these recently on fleabay. There must be more than one company in Hong Kong turning them out as I see your image has a mileometer with a reading, whereas the one I saw was at 00000. It's annoying that they have limited advertising for them and that they are fairly prolific on eBay Canada, but ...

Yes, saw that when it first got listed. 'Teardrop trailers' have been around since the 1930s, basically a 1930s trailer tent, but people still make them from scratch. if you do a search, you'll find them still being made in the USA and Canada. I thought they were something that had died off in the e...

Active Topics Link

Why is the Active Topics menu only showing 3 topics, the same 3 topics it's shown since Friday, even though there are several Topics which have been commented on over the weekend? So therefore they are 'Active'. Based on my use of other php based Forums, the Active Topics should be the list of most ...

Re: Anyone seen AUK 925 H, Maroon Traveller "Little Auk&quo

DVLA has it Untaxed since 2006 (probably SORNed?) No, if it was on a SORN, the DVLA website would state so. It's either parked up and rusting somewhere or very likely it's been broken up and the logbook/V5 not been sent in to DVLA. My car, recently purchased, has had a lot of work done, some of it ...

Re: Morris Motorcycle

Have you tried searching for the biography of "William Richard Morris, 1st Viscount Nuffield GBE CH". He only made motorcycles for 3-4 years maximum before switching to cars, so that's a pretty brief period of history for anything to survive, especially from the beginning of the last centu...

It is interesting that the Club has yet to communicate this possibility to members. Have you let the politburo in Derby know? Well it was only published yesterday! If you scroll to the bottom of any webage on the GOV website, it tells you the update history. 14 September 2017 Outcome for the 'Roadw...
