Re: LCV Register
The down side of (anti)social media is the short attention span, the randomness and nastiness of people. I used to have a Twitter account when I ran my business, but when I retied, I closed the X account because I simply hadn't used it for 2 years. Too many nasty people on there. The MMOC FB Group i...

Re: 'Modern car' steering vibration....
Yes, they can get pretty well jammed on over the years with corrosion. Often, giving it a good soaking with penetrating oil/diesel/ATF, etc. for a few hours beforehand helps. I gave it 2 -3 days spraying it in several times from the back, each stud hole and the centre boss, it just wasn't travellin...

Re: Lucas 166 Hazard Panel
I would judge it to be around 3 -3.5" wide, going from the Double pole switch it uses. They're about 3/4" wide body. The mounting lip is going to be around 3/8" Having looked it up, I see now that it is a replacement Classic Jag part. They actually sell in the £150 - £165 price bracke...

Re: Lucas 166 Hazard Panel
Blimey that's pricey; but then having seen what they charge for a 'Dummy RB106' I'm not really surprised.
Although they are by no means the most expensive for a place selling them.

Re: 'Modern car' steering vibration....
Nice saving, but at least the garage correctly identified the fault. The guy was a bit dim to actually touch the disc though, I think he might have burnt his fingertip.. I was surprised there had been no noticeable 'pull' to the right on the steering; I assume being FWD the transmission comp...

'Modern car' steering vibration....
Just posting this here for a bit of general interest. My 14 yr old Ford Kuga suddenly developed a bit of vibrations on the steering at around 45-55mph. Thinking I'd lost a balance weight, after a few short journeys which confirmed the vibration, I took it into a local Tyre place to get the front whe...

Re: Lucas Windtone Horn
If you look at the Parts books, there's probably as many variants of Horn configuration as there are Seat arrangements..... I gave up trying to understand the thought pattern behind the various decisions; I've probably not not the 'right' set up for the year, but it works, so not a priority. In the ...

Mmoc is not far from me I’m in Matlock and mmoc is in derby which is very handy That's the Club Head Office, principally doing 'office stuff'', although it's an interesting place to visit on an Open Day. The nearest branch to you is almost certainly Mansfield, the MADMOG Branch, they meet on the so...

Re: Lockheed servo
You have very little chance of finding a NOS Lockheed Servo. In fact, the history of the Lockheed Brand isn't as simple as people think, or 'remember'... Automotive Products (AP) started in 1920. Around 1928-30, they began licence manufacture of brake parts from the American Lockheed Corporation. In...

Re: Morris Minor Pickup 1965 not starting
thanks for the replies. That video you provided Stephen was very useful. As I don't get any lights on to indicate ignition on etc I did put a battery charger on it, it was reading as if not flat. I think I will put the charger back on again and leave it for a few hours. I will totally disconnect th...

Re: Morris Minor Pickup 1965 not starting
Almost all Morris Minors (except the very last ones).... Really Stephen? What gave you that idea? To the best of my knowledge, no Minor ever left the factory Neg Earth. The only area of doubt I have is overseas markets, particularly Antipodean, where they have a lot of autonomy in their assembly pl...

Re: Hazard lights
AI can't explain why your original had 3 green wires? Only the original instructions would have provided that info. But you should only need two, 1 for each side. Perhaps the 3rd is the warning light if they are switch wires. I wouldn't expect a Warning lamp line as the Switch Top usually contains ...

I wonder what they would do if a Hillman Imp driver wanted to fill up?
Would they recognise the engine is in the back and the fuel tank, with filler nozzle, is under the bonnet....

Re: Hazard lights
As we've established, Minors never had them originally, they were an early/mid 1970s invention. The original aftermarket kits were different from the ones you get now. These days they all seem to come with a couple of wires intended to isolate the main indicators Flasher, so you don't get flasher un...

Re: Lubricants
Stephen has given you a comprehensive list. I would do some research before making rash statements: Obviously I don't want to use inferior oils, grease etc on her. I have an old Castrol lubrication chart showing me all the various grease, oil points etc,but as you know most of, it not all lubricants w...
