my not-happening restoration

I have a 1969 Traveller which I took off the road two years ago, as the wood was very rotten. Having stripped off the wood work I found extensive rot, which had been hidden by the wood. This was repaired by my local garage, and the car returned to me for rebuilding. I bought new wood, and while the ...

The tower bolts, for some obscure reason were originaly 5/16th bsf, therefore 1/4 Withworth spanner size. Some strange things stick in your memory after 50 years, don't they?

I'm 66. never drunk any water other than what comes out of the tap, eat a fried breakfast every day, and walk two miles a day with my dogs. I've just had an MOT at the Doctors, and been pronounced 100% fit. Sorry, but bottled water and special diets etc, are all baloney! We've all got to die of summ...

I have one of those double-ended fork things that locks across the steering wheel. Highly visible, and impossible to drive with it on.
Mind you, a determined thief would just take the wheel off and put another one on........

I'm 5ft 9in, but find the minor seats a bit low, so use a piece of 4"x2" across the floor under the seat rails.

Danish oil, on new wood, with three coats of Cuprinol first. The more coats of Danish Oil I put on, the better it looks. Takes a long time to dry, though.

Chief, they never made a four-door convertible. The only way to get the view you want is to cut the roof off a four door saloon!

Nicky, I believe you live in Pontypool? Some time ago, I offered to come down and look at your car, but you didn't reply. The offer still stands. Do you want some help?

Support the silencer with a jack, and VERY GENTLY jack it up until the pipe is a good fit on the flange, then smear Firegum on the two halves of the clamp, fit them onto the flange, part tighten the bolts, then turn the clamps to make sure they're seated right, then tighten the bolts.
Easy-peasy.

Stag, you're not behind, mate. I've only done the back half of the chassis so far. The front half has been patched a couple of times, and is fairly sound, but I haven't taken the front wings off yet!!

Evening all! I've just got back from holiday, and as the sun was shining, and Herself wanted me to help unpack the caravan, I had to find something else to do a bit quick! So I took the cover off Trefor the Traveller, just to look, you understand. Well he looked so forlorn, having been covered up si...

On the subject of moving avatars, I have a small eyesight problem, and find them very distracting, particularly if they flash, or change colour, to the extenet that I cannot read the posts concerned. So, please when designing these avatars, think of those of us who are just a bit less than perfect! :D

Great, but what's the van in the first picture? The screen is split, but the grille is wrong, and so is the fuel filler. It looks almost like an Oxford MO, but it's still not right for that. Is it perhaps a computer generated pic?

Miggy, like many others, I've been there, and I'm doing that! I'd say that the wood on your car is totally shot, and will all need replacing. Also be aware that when you get the wood off, there will probably be nothing left of the metal underneath. This is what I found on mine, which actrually looke...
